Ideally positioned, Dar Sofar is situated on the edge of an oasis and along the Drâa River. This gives you direct access to a beautiful, endless network of paths throughout the entire Palmeraie. An ideal starting point for walks, hikes, and treks, it also presents an unforgettable scenery for bike rides (bikes are not available on the property).
In this rural area, peace and tranquility are merely interrupted by the occasional sound of birds and donkeys, as well as the calls for prayer in the various mosques around the village. By times, a marriage is celebrated in the neighborhood during which traditional parties can last during 3 or 4 days.

The village center, which is located only 1500 meters away from the house, offers various cafés and traditional small restaurants, various grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, small shops, a bus station and a taxi station, a fruits and vegetable market, 2 ATMs, a post office, and several souvenir shops.
The valley is famous in all of Morocco for its sweet dates. Harvested between October and November, a specific market is held daily in the village center where you will be able to taste 7 different types of dates, all of them cultivated in the nearby valley.
You will also find a police station, 3 doctors, 2 pharmacies, and a dispensary. In case of any important or critical health issues, there is a hospital located in Ouarzazate at an hour drive.
In Agdz (943 m), the summers are sweltering, arid, and clear; and the winters are cold, dry, and mostly clear. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies between a maximum average of 38°C and minimum average of 23°C in summer; and a maximum average of 15°C and minimum average of 4°C in winter. The sky remains blue and clear mostly all year around.

From/through Ouarzazate
• Various airlines Europe – Ouarzazate
• Direct air route Marrakech Ouarzazate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with Royal Air Maroc : 40mn flight for a one way cheap price of 300 Dhs (around 30 euros)
• The leg from Ouarzazate to Agdz is 70 km, roughly a 50mn drive. It can be traveled using a rental car or a private taxi (which we can book in advance for you, and can average around 20 euros per cab, meaning up to 5 people).
From/through Marrakech
• Multiple airlines fly into Marrakech
• Direct air routes exist between Marrakech and Ouarzazate with Royal Air Maroc (3 times/week - please see above)
• by car, it takes about 5 hours minimum to travel between both cities using the N9 road: one of the most spectacular drives in Morocco, it crosses the High Atlas Mountain by the Tizi n’ Tichka pass at an altitude of 2'300 meters. This road is marked by many turns and important traffic (trucks, buses, etc..). For this adventurous and scenic option we recommend 4 possibilities (from the most expensive to the cheapest):
• Private 4 wheel drive car with driver (from 160 to 180 euros for 1 to 5 passengers)
• Rental car
• Moroccan « Grand Taxi »: a private cab which should cost around 60 euros and can fit 1 to 5 passengers)
• Bus (CTM or Supratour): costs around 10 euros (but disregard this option if you are subject to motion sickness).
