Lynn’s lakeside retreat is a PERFECT place to steal away for any occasion — a solo retreat, a couple or friend getaway, or a trip with children. We loved the property so much, we canceled many of our planned outings to simply relax and enjoy their quiet cove. Every corner of her home and yard is a delight and so clearly a labor of love. There are countless cozy, shady spots to listen to near-constant birdsong. We loved paddling (and pedaling!) Lake Tillery the most. Because this peaceful, quiet area has virtually no boat traffic, we could take our time on the water and stare at red-winged blackbirds, wading and nesting herons, and an elusive egret. Lightning bugs and barred owls ushered in the night. It couldn’t have been more beautiful! When we did venture out, we had a great time exploring the Uwharries and nearby cultural and historic sites. This location is a great base for trails of all intensity levels. (And another great thing about the host—her family has hiked the entire area, so you can trust her guidebook for great ideas or reach out directly to get details and directions.) Trust that you will get to eat, lounge, and rest in a creative, clean, comfortable, well-appointed space if you stay here! We look forward to our next visit!

Nice place, by. The water with private entrance , enjoyed it. Fishing was ok water was not deep so not much big fish but we did catch some so all is good.

Be very, very careful! Walkway to the basement apartment is uphill with randomly scattered stepping stones sitting on bark mulch. A real delight in the dark and especially for women in heels. There's a 3' X 3' threshold at the door that's raised about an inch and a half above the surrounding concrete which is painted the exact same color - dark gray. I was instructed to use the door mat as a reference to the step. It's black. The interior floors seem to be just old concrete that's been coated enough that it's smooth - very smooth. Put a lot of lightweight cloth throw rugs on that and it makes a dangerous situation. Advertised as a two bedroom but the state of NC would strongly disagree. NCRBC requires, among other things, that a bedroom have a window or door leading directly outside in case of an emergency. This place has neither. Best of luck in the event of a fire. Then the TV didn't work, took two days to get that fixed. The Wi-Fi never worked - error message saying the router needed to be reset - just gave up on that one. Because of location neither DTE or 5G are fast enough to be usable. Bathroom sink doesn't drain unless you manually hold the stopper up. Lots of other little irritating things but I'm tired of typing.
