This home is lived in and loved, it is not perfect and furnishings are mostly antiques. If you want shiny and new this is not the place for for you. There will always be something getting done or something needing to be done, just like me it will always be a work in progress. Located in the beautiful Southern Berkshire foothills hamlet of Chester MA known as the “Gem of The Valley” , the house is nestled in the dale and is located less than 150 feet from a very busy, double track section of the historic B&A Railroad. Trains are quite loud and run day and night-train lovers will love this location. Bring your cosplay, goth, steampunk or Halloween costumes for amazing photos inside the house or in spectacular outdoor settings. The house is full of Halloween animatronics and decorations. Fully furnished, the house offers 1600 square feet of living space, kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 baths and 3 bedrooms which are located on the second floor, and sleep 2 each (full beds). This is an old house and the stairs are steep and narrow. Gas cooking range, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster, pots, pans and utensils are on site. The house is heated by old fashioned steam radiators which clank, bang and hiss while heating up and cooling down. At this time, there is no air conditioning but there are oscilating floor fans in each bedroom. Yard maintenance is performed by the owner as nature allows - you can't mow in the rain :) There is a large yard with plenty of space for outdoor games, badmiton, croquet, can-jam, ladder toss and corn-hole are available and free for use. There is plenty of space to pitch a tent and sleep under the stars. in the backyard. Organic blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, pears, rhubarb and apples grown on the property may be available during season. This home is a 5 minute walk toThe Chester Train Station and Museum and less than 1/2 mile from the Chester Theater. The West Branch of the Westfield river can be seen and heard from the house and is just on the far side of the railroad tracks. You can enjoy a beautiful 3 mile hike to the national historic landmark Keystone Arches and follow foot trails along the river. Sanderson Brook Falls, Bash-Bish Falls, Glendale Falls and the The Becket Land Trust Quarry are minutes away. Appalachian Trail access is a 15 minute drive away. A 20 - 60 minute drive can take you to Lee, Lenox, Stockbridge, Great Barrington, Northampton, Pittsfield, Westfield or Springfield where you can find everything-soup to nuts: Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Shakespeare & Co., Lee Shopping Outlets, Norman Rockwell Museum, Canyon Ranch, Chesterwood, Cranwell Resort, Edith Wharton’s home “The Mount” The Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum, The Colonial Theater, Smith College Museum of Art or Botanical Gardens, The Calvin Theater and The Iron Horse.
