The Happy Dawg ranch is situated on a 10 acre parcel with wooded mountain views from every window on all 3 floors. This modest cabin is TOTALLLY OFF the GRID using solar panels for electricity, heat and water heating. the grounds
feature a large deck, horseshoe pit, and access to hiking & mountain biking, and Frenchman Lake ( + 2 miles away) fishing boating and floating and a sandy beach.
It is an experience back in time to an isolated cabin with nothing but nature to explore and enjoy.
This property is for those longing for peace and quiet, for those wanting to connect with their family/friends without the constant electronic interference. It is remote, offering an opportunity to refresh in the quiet of nature.

Lorena is great to work with! There was some miscommunication on the lay out of the house as it was 3 couples and I don’t think the house is set up for that as they are not 3 private rooms. Great for families with children or grandparents. It’s definitely off the grid as there is no cell service but not far from town overall great experience and any issues I did have she resolved very quickly!
We had a very peaceful and calming stay over the weekend. We loved that we were able to disconnect from being online all the time, and this idyllic cabin in the woods was the perfect getaway. The cabin is very homey, and we wish we could’ve stayed longer! There are board games, books, outdoor games, and the deck is such a nice spot to eat al fresco, or just chill and read a book. The kitchen is equipped with all the cooking and eating utensils, and the barbecue grill on the deck is a plus! Hope to come back again!
My top cabin pick now. What a fantastic place and location. Hiking the property, the nearby trails and the lake. The dogs had a blast and didn’t even want to leave. Wonderful host!<br/>Definitely recommend.
This cabin is magical! Quiet and private, with more amenities than you'd expect from "off-grid" living. We didn't want for anything. Comfy bed, plenty of hot water, well-outfitted kitchen, and lots of comfortable outdoor spaces. While we were the first Airbnb renters, the cabin owners have clearly hosted many guests--there's a book with home instructions and info on the area, lots of games and books, and many nice touches for guests (we loved the low-key lights that helped us get around inside the house). We paddled on the lake, drove/hiked to Dixie Mtn Lookout, and enjoyed the many spring wildflowers blooming on the property and surrounding woods. What a wonderful getaway!
The best part of the description of the neighborhood is that there is little in the way of a neighborhood! None of the nearby property owners are residents and very few visit regularly. None of their structures are are visible from the cabin.
This is a remote cabin. The closest purchase of fuel, groceries, etc. is 15 miles away in Chilcoot, CA. The facilities in Chilcoot, CA, include fuel, grocery store, Frosty (burgers and ice cream) and a post office. Plan to bring what you need!
Also within driving distance in addition to Frenchman Lake is Lake Davis approx. 38 miles and Portola, CA (approx. 35 miles) North Reno, NV, is 30+ miles depending on where you desire to go in Reno.
