Beautiful space, very thoughtfully decorated.
Karen was a great communicator. The biggest issue is the layout of the place. It was described as a two bedroom unit so I booked with someone else who was attending a conference as well. Unfortunately, one of the “bedrooms” was the entrance foyer converted to a “bedroom” and the only bathroom was in the other bedroom. So I needed to leave my bedroom opened the entire night. This just didn’t work for two people who are not couples. $200 per night for the space is good as the space is large. But didn’t work out for non family sharing. We could hear everything from upstairs which is okay but the juicing machine at 6am or early just didn’t help.
We stayed at Karen's before and always look for her place first when going to Nanaimo. Great hosts, extremely clean and quiet. It's everything the description says it is and more. We like a quiet location and this definitely is. Karen and her husband are gracious hosts and we recommend this location highly.
The bed is great! Kitchen is well equipped with lots of dishes , pots, etc.
We needed a place to stay for 2 months as we searched for a permanent home in Nanaimo. We originally booked Karen's place for one month, because you never know if the place will live up to the pictures. Well, after four days we changed our mind and extended for our entire two months. The place was warm (despite the temperatures dipping to -10 outside), welcoming, and homey. The kitchen is more than fully stocked, suitable for cooking real meals in. The 2 workspaces provided allowed me to comfortably and productively work remotely. The house itself is a beautiful heritage home, clearly lovingly updated and decorated by people who love their home. Although it is a "basement suite", it feels like it was decorated and furnished by someone who wanted to live there :-) Karen was also very communicative, extremely responsive and helpful with tips and tricks around Nanaimo. I'd recommend her place to anyone.
