This is the place you go when you want some relaxation time and close proximity to the Wairoa Gorge mountain bike park. Vanessa was a fantastic host and really makes you feel right at home.

The Cottage at Brightwater was great. Spotlessly clean, well-appointed, very spacious and very comfortable. Private, peaceful in a lovely rural setting. Great hosts. It was a good base for a range of day trips. Excellent 4 Square supermarket nearby. Brightwater is a special place as it was the birthplace of Ernest Rutherford (make sure you visit the memorial).

I had booked this stay for a friend and I, but unfortunately I wasn't able to make it due to a death in my family. My friend had a fantastic stay and ended up meeting up with a mutual friend that joined him for the stay. Communication was great from the time I made the reservation throughout the stay and Vanessa was very friendly and accommodating. My friends said it was one of their best Airbnb stays to date and would definitely stay at Vanessa's again. The grounds were great, the deck was a wonderful place to chill out and relax under the stars, and they really appreciated the fresh fruit she provided. I'm sad I didn't get to enjoy it, but I'm glad they did and thankful for Vanessa's hospitality. I look forward to staying there myself when I do get to explore the area.

We loved our stay here! Vanessa's hospitality was amazing. She greeted us when we checked in and was kind enough to show us around her farm and let us meet her chickens and lambs. The cottage itself is extremely clean and very well-decorated. It had everything we needed and more. This is definitely one of our favorite stays here in New Zealand!
