Chuck was very proactive and clear in communication. The location is super-convenient with a 5-minute drive to the downtown restaurants. You can admire the snow-covered Mt Shasta right from your doorstep. The house was very well provisioned with pots and pans, silverware and several seasonings. Washer/dryer was a great convenience. The only thing that did not work for me was that the single beds were too soft my personal preference. I would go back again, perhaps this winter.

Downtown Cabin (aka "McCloudIX") was the perfect place for our four night escape to the mountains! It is one of the many old lumber company employee houses in the town. This one has been fixed up very nicely so that the main living area feels quite open and light, while still maintaining some of the charms of the original. It was clean, quiet, and very comfortable as well. It also had all we could have wished for in the way of supplies, local guides, etc., and it was a delightful spot to return to after a day of hiking and exploring. The property manager, Chuck, was very helpful and conscientious too, with good notes about the house and tips about local doings. We had a wonderful time visiting the McCloud area, and having this house as "home base" really contributed to it. We wouldn't hesitate to rent it again the next chance we have to travel in that part of the state.

We enjoyed our stay in this homey little house very much. We especially liked the deck in the back yard with the comfy chairs and picnic table and we spent all our mornings out there. We found that all we needed was provided for and everything functioned well. Our host was most helpful and always available to answer any questions we had. A very pleasant stay in this beautiful area that we love.
