The hotel now features 5 bedrooms for up to 12 guests, a bar & a shop called 'Queen Bee Alma' offering crochet & craft classes. Location: 1/2 mile from the beach/marina, a few doors down from KwikTrip, & a short walk to bars, shops & fun of downtown Alma. The Burlington Hotel is the first commercial building that you see when you enter Alma from the North. The hotel's second story balcony offers unobstructed views of the sunset over the Mississippi looking towards the bluffs on the Minnesota side. The upper level houses 5 guest rooms. You are renting #4. The owners' apartment is on the same level. The 2 bathrooms on the upper level are in the hallway. There is also a half-bath on the entrance level available to guests. Alma's a fun, touristy town with small shops, museums, bluff-overlook park, winery, bakery, restaurants, bars, Kwik Trip, museums, Mississippi River Lock & Dam #4, trains/barges, eagle watching, fall foliage tours, hunting & fishing (all seasons), ladies' weekends, motorcycle enthusiasts, R&R, craft retreats, nature, and kayaking/boating.
This place is so cute. Jennifer was so nice and helpful! We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. We would definitely book this place again!
A friendly place. The room was comfortable and clean, the atmosphere was inviting. I was traveling alone and felt safe. The place sits on the highway and right across from the railroad tracks. The host provided ear plugs but I didn't feel I needed them. I would stay again.
Jennifer was very friendly, welcoming and the place was clean, comfortable, and charming. It was so nice to be able to walk from my room to the kitchen to get coffee in the morning and be able to walk down for a drink at the bar. Jennifer was very kind and interested in her guests' stories and backgrounds. She invited me to the bar and gave me recommendations for places to eat. She made me feel comfortable with my solo stay. One thing I will mention, like Jennifer highlighted, the trains is loud at night (I am a light sleeper) so don't forget your ear plugs, headphones etc.
Cozy historic building, that feels warm and comfortable. Our room was also very cozy, and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching barges go up and down the river, and enjoy our morning coffee out there. The kitchen was well stocked, and even had complimentary snacks and coffee/tea. Having the bar downstairs was also a nice feature, and provided us a place to hang out at the end of the day. If you're looking for places to stay, you should really consider The Burlington Hotel. We're already planning our next trip to the area, and will stay here again.
Locals are very friendly and welcoming. Neighborhood is residential. Short walk to shops.
Walk to beach, marina, KwikTrip, restaurant, bars, downtown Alma. Crosswalk in front of hotel. Must cross RR tracks to get to river. No fence.
