Tournesol is one of two beautifully restored gites in the hamlet of Grange, near Linazay, in the Vienne region of rural France. It is surrounded by rolling countryside with fields full of sunflowers in the summer. Comfortably sleeping 8 people in 4 bedrooms, Tournesol is bright, with plenty of character and a host of original features. It's well-equipped and simply decorated with exposed stone walls, crisp, white bed linen, large, fresh towels and high quality furnishings. Tournesol opens out onto a grassy, gated courtyard, featuring a large cherry tree in the centre. In front of the gite there is a wooden table and chairs for the guests staying in Tournesol to use for outside dining and there are also bbqs available. Across the garden there is a traditional French bread oven, laundry room with washing machines and large games barn with table tennis, table football, darts, boules, croquet, plus a range of bicycles which you are welcome to borrow to explore the local countryside. Beyond the courtyard garden there is a further large garden, for outdoor games, and the sparkling 10m by 5m heated pool (open end of May to end of September) with plenty of sunloungers, chairs and parasols for shade. The pool is gated and has a safety cover. Please note that the temperature of the pool is reliant on the surrounding air temperature and will therefore vary between about 21 and 27 degrees. We had such a lovely time. Karen and David are great hosts. The gite was as described. The pool was perfect for hot days. We were able to explore the area by car easily due to being near major roads. Highly recommended.
If you’re looking for a home away from home - this is it! Karen and David are the kindest and most welcoming hosts! We were all made to feel right at home, comfortable and relaxed! The games barn is excellent with everything you could want. The pool area is beautiful with a very large pool, so many relaxing pool lounges and plenty of sun umbrella’s for those seeking shade. David ensures it’s ready everyday for you to enjoy! Karen provides the most comprehensive guide book which has everything in it you could need, but if you need a little more advice they are always willing to help. If you want relaxation, peace of mind that the kids can safely play in the beautiful grounds and a gite which offers pure relaxation and comfort then you need to book to stay here!!! Highly recommend! Thank you to David, Karen, the cats and chickens for sharing your beautiful home with us!

We hadden een zeer fijne vakantie bij Karen & David. Het huis was zeer ruim en goed uitgerust. we verbleven er met 7 personen waarvan 4 kinderen. De kinderen konden zich perfect vermaken dankzij het heerlijke zwembad, de spelletjes in de schuur en de fietsen. En ook de 2 katten René en Chantilly zorgden voor de nodige knuffels. David & Karen zijn zeer goede hosts, beschikbaar wanneer je ze nodig hebt, maar je kan perfect van je privacy genieten. Een echte aanrader voor een rustige vakantie. Amazing stay, never had hosts so willing to assist, helped with transfers to and from the airport with no hassle whatsoever. The place has everything you could need and more, amazing kitchen space and appliances, nice big bedrooms with plenty of room for guests, everything was clean and thought out, bikes available for use, nice size pool. The perfect stay and plan to come back in the future! Thank you For an amazing week.

Delightful local villages with boulangeries, bars and restaurants, (which we can highly recommend), along with several historic market towns provide an extensive range of facilities and amenities all within 15 minutes drive. Slightly further afield is the Atlantic Coast, Ile de Re, historic towns such as Poitiers, La Rochelle, Angouleme and Cognac, along with major tourist destinations such as Futuroscope.
Access from the main ports (Caen 5 hours, Le Havre 6 hours, Calais 7 hours) and airports (Poitiers 40 mins, La Rochelle 75 mins, Limoges 75 mins) is easy with the majority of the journey being on the autoroute. These airports all have car hire options. It is also possible to get a bus or train from the airport in Bordeaux

My hubby and the lovely Debbie (our helper) do everything practical and I do the admin.
