Wonderful stay for our family! We had an amazing time and the kids truly enjoyed the outskirts. Our host was very communicative and responsive making our stay very easy. We didn’t really needed to contact them as we had everything we needed. Will definitely bring the family over again.

Great long weekend at Mackermore castle. Perfect venue for a large group. Great price for what you get. It’s also a short walk into Newton Stewart (but need to take the short cut from the river path). Hildur was great to deal with and promptly responded to queries from our group.

Machermore Castle is a beautiful place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome and Hildur had thoughtfully left us some welcome wine which was a really nice touch. We were a party of fifteen and we rented both the main castle and the castle apartment. We had super comfy beds and plenty of space both indoors and out to relax and enjoy ourselves. The castle is equipped with everything you need to make it feel like a home from home including a catering spec kitchen in the main building and a laundry room. We all enjoyed making lots of use of the big hall for family activities and general chilling out. Locally there is a ton of stuff to do. We enjoyed paddle boarding, archery, hiking and cycling at Galloway Forest Park, and we found the perfect beach, Dalavan Bay, at Cardoness holiday park a fifteen minute drive away. Whilst there some of the family climbed Merrick Moutain too, stunning views out to the Alisa Craig. Machermore Castle will go down as a favourite holiday for us all and we would love to return.
