Redgrave · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室3床2.5卫 · 可住6人 · Half Moon Lane Holiday Cottage - Redgrave, Suffolk
This beautiful and most dog welcoming detached cottage is a private and peaceful retreat on a no through road. The conservation village is in a stunning rural area on the Norfolk/Suffolk border – perfectly located to enjoy the very best each county has to offer - 45 minutes to the Heritage coast. Perfect for a romantic break away from it all or really well suited to groups of friends looking to enjoy the great outdoors before returning to enjoy the understated luxury for rest and recuperation. Renovated with a love of the outdoors (and muddy paws) in mind, this old cottage has a shoe, coat and boot area by the front door. Oiled brick floors run throughout the open plan kitchen and dining hall, with quarry tiles in the library and solid wood flooring everywhere else. Two sets of double doors open onto the patio dining area at the back of the cottage. Within this private well fenced space is a small lawn, a deck with gas BBQ and seating area. Through a side gate is another enclosed lawned area surrounded by hedging with bench seating. Enough outdoor space to enjoy warm summer evenings and the vast dark starry skies. The living room and library share a double sided wood burner so there is ample room beside or around the fire (be advised though that many a tired dog has quickly claimed and refused to relinquish the best spot). There are two sofas, leather beanbags, a desk, board games, puzzles, playing cards, a smart TV and books to read. Upstairs are three double bedrooms. The master ensuite has a large double ended bath that is the perfect place to enjoy a hot soak by candlelight after a long day in the great outdoors before falling in to the luxurious super king bed. This is an old cottage and there are many steps (including all entrances to the property), raised door thresholds, restricted headroom and the ground/floors are uneven in places. The property is not suitable for children aged 11 or under. Older children or adults with mobility difficulties should read the descriptions carefully and consider that all bedrooms are upstairs. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and dog treats are provided to get you settled. Please note that to avoid waste, cooking oils and human foods are not provided. Professionally laundered super soft linen bedding and towels are provided as are soaps and cleaning products. This cottage holds a Silver Award from Green Tourism.
A nice, comfy and homely place to stay. Will definitely come back if we are around in the area again.
Yew Tree Cottage is absolutely beautiful, the attention to detail that Victoria has put in to ensure guests have a relaxing holiday is second to none. Everything in the cottage is quality, it is warm , comfortable, spacious, it’s the perfect cottage. The location is brilliant for sightseeing and dog walking. I have stayed in lots of cottages all over England, Yew Tree Cottage is by far the very best.
Just come back after a weekend at this beautiful place and we loved it. The cottage is the most dog friendly we’ve ever been to - and we’ve seen a few over the years- which made it so much more relaxing for us all. Dog beds everywhere, dog treats and toys, lovely local coffee, early morning dog walks and wildlife on your doorstep, cool floors (very useful for humans and dogs in 30+ degrees), beautiful bedding and towels, lovely little garden with a very relaxing hammock (good for a book and an afternoon nap too), the list could go on. Victoria was very helpful and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful weekend, even for the two teenagers! Miracle!
An absolutely fantastic stay in the most dog friendly place we have ever been! Before the visit a fantastic welcome and communication with Victoria about the stay and check in meant everything went incredibly smoothly. Once inside and settled (dog in one of the multiple dog beds!) the house had so much information on the local area to ensure we had a great stay in Redgrave.
The village of Redgrave is thriving and boasts many local amenities – a village shop, a bakery, a microbrewery and a community owned village pub serving good food.
Guests will find no fewer than six nature reserves within a five-mile radius of the cottage giving unrivalled opportunity to observe wild ponies, deer, birds and other wildlife in natural settings. The largest valley fen in England, the internationally renowned Redgrave and Lopham Fen National Nature Reserve (warning: do not search this online this if you are an arachnophobe) and lots of other countryside walks are on your doorstep. For those who want to venture slightly further, Knettishall Heath SSSI & nature reserve (every dogs’ favourite) and Thetford Forest are both a very short drive away. The start of both Boudica’s and Peddars Way are nearby. For enjoying the countryside, walking and cycling, this cottage really is the ideal base.
Redgrave is in Iceni country – home of Boudica, iconic Queen of the British Celtic tribe, who led an uprising against invading Roman forces almost 2,000 years ago. Her headquarters, the surviving Motte at Thetford Castle is just twenty minutes away.
There are numerous opportunities for other days out with zoos, sanctuaries, ruins, castles, churches, other historic buildings, sites and country estates, the Norfolk Broads and miles of coastline and beaches all easily accessible.
For higher octane human only (unless Racing in the Rain was a true story) pursuits, Snetterton Race Circuit is a just twenty minutes away by car – that is close enough to be handy, yet far enough not to be heard
From the cottage, there are many walking routes (OS map provided), and you can bring your bicycles (secure storage available) to explore the surrounding villages, pubs and trails. The nearest town with a train station is Diss.
