nice and quiet, just what I wanted

I don’t normally write bad reviews but I feel strongly that I need to give other travelers a heads up about this one. The good…the host seemed nice enough. He was responsive and provided items upon request such as a heater and some basic cutlery. The bed was comfortable. The bad…it’s a damp and cold basement room. You are required to descend a long staircase to access the place. It is in a bunker style building with hallways that are lined with doors with numbers on them. I’m assuming this is a rooming house? Lots of coming and going of random people which didn’t make me feel super safe as a single woman. The room smelled of wet dog. The small couch was covered in dog hair. The bed linen also covered in dog hair. The fridge hadn’t been cleaned—there was a sticky red liquid covering the shelves. It is NOT a quiet retreat. It’s near the highway. The roar of the traffic can be heard as well as the loud sounds of the living upstairs and all around. The terrible….instead of the requisite hand sanitizer and explanation of how the host is keeping with Covid protocols found in most Air BnBs these days, the host provided a stack of anti-vaxer/conspiracy theorist propaganda on the table for my casual reading. This place is grossly overpriced. I will most definitely not be back.

Brennan and Laura were great hosts. The room was exactly what we needed and the location was perfect. Nice open area surrounded by fields and trees and pretty close to anything you need. Our dog loved it there so much, she had a great time playing with their dogs and roaming the area and learning about chickens (lol). We had the breakfast and it was so good- the fresh eggs and homemade bread really made it! Thank you so much for having us and we will definitely be staying there again next time were up that way!

Such a great place to visit, very relaxing, Loved to walk around and enjoyed my morning coffee sitting and watching the beautiful scenery, nearby river sounds and hearing birds singing. Brennan and his wife both are great host, thanks for the flexibility during our stay. Loved the meal specially homemade bread in breakfast. It was so refreshing after the city noise. I would definitely come back.

What a wonderful stay at The Shamrock! Brennan was an incredibly accommodating and gracious host, and the breakfast he offers (complete with farm-fresh eggs and homemade bread) is not to be missed. I loved stopping in and getting an authentic farm experience at this lovely airbnb. Highly recommended.
