Welcome to our lakefront retreat on Great Sacandaga Lake! Our cabin is located on 4.3 private acres, with almost 400 feet of your own lakefront, and the most stunning sunset views from any advantage point. This cabin has all the comforts and upgrades of a high-end resort stay, and all the amenities and fun of a lakefront retreat. The house sleeps 10 with 5 bedrooms, 6 beds, with 2 separate living rooms, 3 full bathrooms, and a gourmet kitchen. THE LAKEHOUSE: The cabin sits elevated above the lake with killer views. The outdoor deck features a large table with a fire feature in the middle – perfect for watching the sunset every evening. There is also an outdoor fire pit if you’d like to build a real fire for s’mores. Or, you may choose to relax in the hot tub that seats 6, with views of the lake. Inside, you’ll find an open living concept with the kitchen-living-dining in one grand space. Every room has a smart TV and the home is baby/toddler-friendly. The staircases have baby gates, including the outdoor deck. The master bedroom even has a crib for your use if you’re traveling with a little one. The house also features a chef’s kitchen, complete with a Viking stove and extra refrigeration in the basement and garage if you end up grocery shopping for the whole week and need storage. The kitchen is completely updated, with open concept living so you can stay engaged with the rest of the guests while cooking and also enjoy the views. For the families that need quick meals, the house is equipped with a Ninja Foodie (instapot & airfyer) and microwave. Blue Diamond pots and pans, and chef’s knife set to round out what you need to make a great meal. Upstairs, you’ll find the large master suite with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The cathedral ceilings extend into the master suite, making it feel large, yet cozy. BABY and TODDLER FRIENDLY: Our family has a 1 year old and a 3 year old, so you’ll find the home is outfitted with baby and toddler friendly features. If you’re not traveling with little ones, you might not even notice, but if you are, these features are a big deal! All the stairs have baby gates, including the outdoor deck. The dining area has a high chair. In the primary suite, a crib and mattress is available for your use, please bring your own sheets and baby blanket.
The house, while charming and as described, serves also as a residence for the owners, meaning personal belongings are securely stored onsite. This aspect might be worth noting for future guests. Cleanliness, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. Particularly, the top floor bathroom required attention, and despite our conversations with Brendon, it seems the house had not been attended to for some time. While we were not significantly inconvenienced, prospective guests should be aware that the house's proximity to the lake is somewhat misleading. A main thoroughfare separates the property from the lake, and while the adjacent beach is designated as private, it does not offer the tranquility one might expect. For those prioritizing direct lake access and a quiet, secluded waterfront, this property might not align with your preferences.
We stayed with a few families including kids and we had plenty of space and bedrooms for everyone. Brendon was responsive when there were questions that came up. The kitchen is very well-stocked, however my only suggestion would be to include some additional sets of plates/bowls/cutlery.
We had an amazing time at the “Christmas Cabin”! It was everything we expected and more, we even got some snow! Wonderful place to make memories to last a lifetime… thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Our lakeside cabin is located in the Adirondack mountains on the Great Sacandaga Lake, New York’s second largest lake. South Shore road does run between the house and the lake, so you have to cross the road to get to your private lakefront. From the house, you have views of the lake. We are located on the eastern side of the lake, which means you also have incredible sunset views.
Just 1.9 miles (a 3 minute drive) over the bridge is the Four Corners. This is an intersection with the Four Corners Diner, and Fullers Corner Store and Deli. The diner has all the feels of a small town place, even with a traditional diner counter you can eat at. And Fuller’s Corner Store and Deli has gas, and all the necessities you might need without going further to town.
Nearby is the quaint town of Northville, NY, a 10 minute drive. Northville has all the conveniences you might need: small grocery store, Walgreens, Stewart’s Shop, Deli, Restaurant, boutiques. One of my favorite spots to shop at is the Northville 5 & 10. It’s the oldest five and dime store in the country. The history is really great and you can find a lot of souvenirs and Adirondack themed shopping. They even have a small candy shop located within the five and dime, try their fudge - its delicious!
To the South, you’ll find the town of Broadalbin, NY (11 miles away, or a 17 minute drive). This town has all the historic charm you might need. We suggest stopping in the Historic Broadalbin Hotel, built in 1854. Their food is excellent and if it’s nice out, we suggest getting a table on the large outdoor deck.
Just down the road is Mayfield, NY. As you head into Mayfield at the roundabout, you’ve got a few great places to check out. The Great Sacandaga Brewing Co (14 miles from the house or a 19 minute drive) is well known for it’s craft beers and small bites. They often have events and live music. Also in walking distance from the brewery is the Fulton County Visitor Center and School House Treasures Antiques and Gifts. The visitor center has a paved walking/biking trail you can’t miss right next to it. And the School House Treasures is fantastic for shopping for unique gifts and antiques.
If you’re a fan of Harley Davidson, there’s also a large Harley shop and dealer. You’ll find the area has scenic drives around the lake, great for motorcycle drives - especially in the fall with the leaves changing. If you’re interested in a scenic drive, we recommend driving north from the the house and doing a loop around the lake. There is a damn at the northern end of the lake with great views. The damn actually regulates 30% of the Hudson River flows from Great Sacandaga Lake. If you’re a history buff, there’s a lot of great history with the lake and the building of the damn in the 1920-30’s.
Just 34 minutes away is Saratoga Springs. Visit Saratoga Springs famous horse races, mineral springs, cultural institutions or endless numbers of shops and restaurants.
Drive an additional 10 minutes and you'll be in Lake George, a great town to explore family-friendly activities, water parks, amusement parks, shopping, dining or just taking in the views of the lake.
And last, but certainly not least - your’e in the Adirondacks! That means beautiful mountains that surround the house and even great hiking. For a quick walk, you can walk from the house across the Bacherville Bridge. Looking north from the bridge you get great views of the Adirondacks. Right in Northville behind the Five and Dime is where the Northville to Lake Placid Adirondack trail starts. A short drive away is the Hadley Mountain Trail (25 minute drive) or the Tenant Creek Falls Hike (30 minute).
Our cabin is located on the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondack mountains. You get all the feels and quiet enjoyment of being on the lake surrounded by mountains. That also means to get around you need a car. The good news is we have plenty of parking and all the conveniences (groceries, Walgreens, small town shops, etc) are only a short drive away. Check out the neighborhood description for information on where to go.
