Historic 1884 Montana Trapper Cabin moved to this idyllic tranquil location on a hilltop in the center of 26 acres overlooking the gorgeous Swan Mountains and Echo Lake. Enjoy the best of old and new Montana - private, tranquil with easy, close access to Echo Lake and 5 mi from Bigfork. Echo Lake fishing access - 1/2 mile away. Private and tranquil. Cabin shares a hilltop with a new 1000 ft cabin. Outdoor water and electric , hammock, outhouse, fire pit, spectacular views & location Tent and/or camper (water and electric hookup available) permitted upon approval of owner and for an additional fee. No pets allowed due to presence of wildlife and sharing hilltop with another rental cabin. Wifi available. Our Trapper Cabin spot would be a wonderful private family camping location and we are planning on installing an outdoor shower on this rustic "old" Montana side of our property this spring.

So so lovely, host Lynn extremely sweet and proactive; gorgeous setting; would absolutely stay there again.
We loved the trapper cabin! Was awesome to experience life a bit off the grid. Felt like stepping back in time! We enjoyed BBQing and eating on the picnic table overlooking the valley, mountains, and trees. We shared a delicious complimentary bottle of wine on the patio rockers as the sun set. Showering under the moonlit trees and starry sky was amazing. We enjoyed a scenic drive North to the Under the Big Sky Festival. The Cowboy Benedict at Echo Lake Cafe, and the Butter Rum and Huckleberry Latte at Florence Coffee, just down the road, was sooo good! Lynn had everything described perfectly, and checkin was super easy. Thank you for making our visit to Montana memorable. The Trapper Cabin was the perfect location for my proposal - she said “Yes!”. We flew back to California engaged! 🤠
Second time taking a summer vacation spent in the flathead valley and at Lynn’s cabin and I might just make it a yearly occurrence. Lynn goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and the property and stay are top shelf

The Echo Lake/ Bigfork Community is awesome in so many ways! Recreationally we have at our backdoor Flathead, Echo, Swan Lakes with swimming, boating, fishing etc; a plethora of hiking, walking, biking, skiing, horseback riding trails. Our quaint little town of Bigfork offers golfing at Eagle Bend ( a Jack Nicholas world class course), music events, breweries, Farmer's Markets, wonderful dining, shopping, cultural center, churches and art galleries. Some special events we hope you can experience are the Bigfork 4th of July Parade, Bigfork rodeo, Tamarack Festival, Rumble by the Bay and the Whitewater Festival and Christmas in Bigfork/ Parade. We think if you are choosing our Trapper Cabin you most likely are the sort who would love scouting around our local mountains for plump, juicy huckleberries in the summer months- we're happy to try and point you in the right direction and give you some pointers.
Tubing the Swan River in the summer is a local favorite activity for many-one can tube the rapids in about 1.5 hours or linger along on a longer, tranquil scenic kayak, SUP, canoe trip ( 4-5 hours) through postcard beauty. Local boat rentals with delivery are available, as well as, a diverse variety of guided tours. In the winter months close by are cross country trails, downhill skiing at Blacktail Mountain ( 27 mi) or Whitefish Mtn.(39mi), dog sledding, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, hunting in the most beautiful of locations.Just ask us and we're happy to share all the local "ins and outs"
As a heads up.....to enjoy Bigfork in the winter months you'd best inquire about our brand new "Best of Montana" cozy and heated cabin ( sleeps 6) across the hill from our Trapper Cabin.
Echo Lake Road and Swan River Road have a wonderful paved 2 mile long walking/ biking path. Echo Lake and the boat ramp ( half mile away) are within walking distance of our property. There is plenty of parking at this cabin with room to park a boat or RV. Echo Creek Road is very quiet and good for walking. Property accessible by car, truck, mountain bikes, motorcycles, hikers.
