Lovely house! Perfect vacation spot

The place was beautiful and as advertised. The pool and views are absolutely lovely. Our only complaint was that there was a very noticeable odor in the house which I think may have just been caused by the plumbing not being in frequent use. It improved as we stayed there, though.

We really enjoyed our stay and loved the 1930’s(?) character of the house, the beautiful patio and sea breeze for breakfasts, the nicely kept yard and clean pool. The beds were comfortable, and the 2-twin bed setup in 3 of the 4 bedrooms allowed for more flexibility and less stress figuring out sleeping arrangements for our group of 2 families traveling together. The location is just one or two rows of houses above the ocean, and even though there are electrical wires along the north side of the property, the peek-a-boo view of the ocean was still very enjoyable. The sea breeze on the west-facing patio was heavenly each morning at breakfast. We also loved the historical lithograph prints on the walls, which were quite educational — from the history of hot air balloon travel, to the region’s castles & towns. It is evident that someone took great care in decorating this house very thoughtfully back in its heyday. The kitchen had everything we needed to feel at home.

This place is in a great location - near the beach, walkable restaurants, private pool, easy access to Sintra and Lisbon (with a car), private parking (with an automatic gate for extra security). However, we were extremely disappointed with the state of the interior, given the cost of the property. The actual state of the interior is far worse than the images on this site and is in need of major home improvements. Below are some examples of issues which need resolving: - Windows in the top floor look-out room cracked and build up of mould in the frames - First floor bathroom shower curtain rail coming away from the wall - Two electric heaters in two bedrooms cracked - Mould/damp on the wall/ceiling join in the kitchen - Paint peeling away in several areas on the stairs’ bannister - Peeling paint on kitchen units above worktop - Mould build up in the fridge and freezer door seals - Water dripping down an electric cable for the air conditioning unit for lounge on outside wall
