Easy on/off I40 to your favorite WNC destinations. Our classic 650 sq ft cabin is nestled in a neighborhood of old summer homes and on the same property as our charming 1909 farmhouse. The living room, furnished with vintage pieces and a new comfy sofabed, boasts a wood-burning stone fireplace, perfect for s'mores. The remodeled bath and kitchen are super clean and well-appointed. Private bedrooms have queen beds with closets. Some of WNCś nicest trails are just minutes away. We're only 2.2 miles from the center of Black Mtn and 15-20 min from Asheville, Biltmore, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’re in the midst of some of the area’s best hiking. Catawba Falls (reopening spring ‘24), a perfect family hike, is just 15 minutes away, and Kitsumah is 5 minutes away. Just steps away are Ridgecrest Conference Center as well as Crestridge and Ridgecrest Camps. Montreat College is a short jaunt, and Warren Wilson is just a little further. Ask about a secret swimming hole!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Bev and Joe’s cabin. After a late flight and long drive it was nice to be able to have accurate directions to the cabin and easy keyless check in. The cabin was well lit, very welcoming and exactly as shown in the photos. We stayed very busy the couple of days that we were there taking full advantage of the beautiful surrounding area and the wonderful restaurants and breweries recommended by Bev. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely rebook. Personal note to Bev: We had the “AWE” moment coming through the gate at Biltmore. It was incredible! Also, Chihuly is a must visit!!
We had an awesome time at Bev and Joe’s place! The directions to the cabin were perfect and we were personally greeted by a Joe upon our arrival. We loved all of the details of the cabin and appreciated all of the extra touches inside! There were so many recommendations of things to do! We loved the close proximity to Asheville, the blue ridge parkway, and to pisgah national forest. It felt really peaceful to be nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Asheville yet still be close to all activities! Joe and Bev make you feel like family! Would love to come back and explore more!
Beverly was a great hostess. The cabin is lovely and they have covered everything from hiking trail to restaurants to even an Igles card. A wonderful experience!
Felt at home the moment we arrived! Had a lovely fire, the beds were super comfy! Beverly left a lovely welcome gift and was full of amazing recommendations and the cabin had maps and lots of info on hikes etc.
Outback cabin is a perfect getaway. It has everything you need. Nicely appointed, updated bathroom, washer/dryer, beautiful outdoor space, and a REAL fireplace. The host are friendly and so helpful. Its location is easy to find. Close to town. Easy access to the interstate for day trips. I will definitely be back!

Outback Cabin is just minutes from I40 and adjoins Ridgecrest Conference Center properties. Many of the homes started out as church lodges and summer cottages for pastors and missionaries. Our unique neighborhood is quiet but people do live here. In the summer, you might hear revere and some squeals from the nearby girls’ camp--just part of the charm of living in WNC camp-central.
The cabin, our farmhouse, and another 2-story building (aka The Treehouse) sit on a shady 1/2 acre. Our nearest neighbor is rarely seen!
In the summer, roam around the yard and help yourselves to whatever you find in our fledgling garden--lettuces, greens, blueberries, and maybe even a couple of strawberries!
You’ll need a car. The neighborhood is hilly but 4-wheel drive is not necessary unless we have significant snow or ice.

Joe and I are a kinda-retired professional couple from the Asheville (NC) area who love rich travel experiences. At home, we enjoy hosting guests on our 1909 tiny homestead--but it lives big with gardens, a cabin, and an on-going project, "The Treehouse." We love giving back to our community as volunteers. Bev's favorite project, besides chasing 12 active grandkids, is volunteering at the local displaced women's apartment. Joe continues as an advisor at Montreat College.
