Rodden Manor dates back to the 16th Century - was once the home of Thomas 'little Jack' Horner of nursery rhyme fame. Built in a secluded haven in the fields outside Frome, the manor has a small stone built, single room building on the edge of the garden, next to the river. There's private parking and access to the surrounding fields, wild swimming and a hot tub ( booked by special request ). Frome is walking distance with its restaurants, cinema and the independent shops of Catherines Hill Situated amongst beautiful mature trees on the edge of the garden and beside the river, its the setting that makes Rodden River cabin so unique
Had a lovely long weekend - what a magic spot. The cabin is compact but very cosy and has a lovely homely feel. The other building acts as a sort of living room/hang out space and was great for watching an evening film or two - the cabin is in a great spot for watching the sun go down, if it were warmer then we would have been tempted by a river dip. We loved getting pizza in the evening from Rye Bakery and coffee in the morning from there and managed to do some beautiful walks in the area. Top tip would be to bring food that is easy to cook/prep as the kitchen as Lexie mentions is very much a summer kitchen so more heating up things than cooking anything complex. The surrounding garden is beautiful, the area around the cabin feels very private and enclosed - Lexie was super helpful for any questions and we loved meeting Ludo the dog - a super stay!
We had a brilliant stay. Beautiful, cozy cottage with plenty to do and the hot tub was an amazing experience. Lexie was a fantastic host, very friendly, attentive and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this airbnb!
We've seldom found such lovely unique places as the Cabin. Comfortable, welcoming room with all amenities and then a gorgeous living area with books, games and TV. lovely furnishings throughout and all within private Riverside location. And then there's Lexie. we had such a good restful time thanks to this lovely hostes. Totally impressed and loved every minute of our stay.
This Air BnB has got quite a lot of potential and is in a nice location and handy for Frome. We spend Christmas here, however I can imagine its much better in the summer. Sadly the bedroom had a prevailing musty damp smell which was quite overpowering, as a consequence we ended up sleeping with the windows open. This was maybe caused by a leaking sink and possibly the shower cubicle being in a corner of the bedroom. The outdoor kitchen area although cute and rustic did not feel very clean and two pans I pulled out were dirty, other pans had definitely seen better days. We didn't feel like preparing any food in there.
Lexie’s place is fabulous. The best bedding and mattress that we have ever experienced in an Airbnb stay. The movie room offers entertainment definitely. And as an animal lover, I was happy to observe some free-ranged ducks and quakes. The hot tub could be hotter but it was understandable in the freezing winter. We had some issues with electricity overload but it was handled very quickly. Lexie and Amber were super friendly and responsive. We recommend this place especially for people who would like to visit Frome market or Longleat Park.
Rodden Manor is a private house just outside of Frome. We are a 15 min walk to centre of the historic town which is full of interesting independent shops, characterful pubs and delicious restaurants. 5 Minutes away from Longleat, a short drive to the Hauser and Wirth gallery in Bruton, Babington House is less than 15 minutes drive away and Stourhead is 15 minutes away with beautiful walks.
We are a 12 minute walk to the nearest train station ( Frome ) and a 15 minute walk into the centre of Frome. Westbury train station is a 15 minutes drive away. Buses are easily accessible to Bath and beyond from Frome town.
