Hugo, Alan and Andres were all pleasant, informative and available. The cabin, setting and mountain views were like a painting in every direction you looked. Sunrises and sunsets were stunning. Kitchen facilities had everything we needed. Besides going for walks and to the onsite restaurant, we didn't want to leave. we loved everything about our experience there. thank you!

Wow what an incredible place. From the views to the food to the insane road to get there! We loved our stay here. And everything was amazing. Wish we had stayed longer. You definitely need 4 wheel drive which we didn’t have but Hugo was easy to set up a driver for a fee that was so worth it. Will definitely be back :)

Awesome place to spend a few nights. Food was good and authentic. You can see birds of many types all over the property and even bats at night. The road was simple to get up in October probably want something that’s higher off the ground. The temperature up there is colder than Manuel Antonio which was awesome to sleep was not very humid. Staff was very friendly polite, and accommodating.

SO WORTH THE JOURNEY!! You definitely need a 4x4 or higher up vehicle to go on the hour long journey up the gravel/muddy roads. We were able to make it in a Hyundai Tucson FWD. A car cannot make it up (two streams to cross along the way) and when it rains the dirt areas can get pretty muddy. The drive up was beautiful and you hardly notice the time but having your own vehicle is essential if you plan on leaving for day trips etc. It starts with a turn into rows and rows of palm oil trees and goes into homes and the elevated rural area. There are a few signs here and there that say SANTA JUANA LODGE that let you know you’re on the right track. The bungalow itself was designed so beautifully and the views are breathtaking to wake up to everyday!!! The design of the home and ceiling fans made it cool inside without AC. Everyone at the lodge was so immediately welcoming, kind, and helpful about knowledge of the area. We saw so many Toucans throughout our days right from our porch! Recommend bringing some binoculars for your time in Costa Rica. The meals made by Alan’s mother in the lodge’s restaurant were absolutely delicious! The price for an authentic, homemade 3 course dinner can’t be beat. It was so gorgeous every night to eat in the welcoming space and try new foods. Everyone was so kind and it was a sad time having to leave on our last morning, but staying at this lodge was the best way to experience Costa Rica and we’d certainly do it again! Each evening we’d look forward to coming back to our Costa Rican home away from home!
