Madeira In Fife Cottages - High quality accommodation located in a 10 acre woodland garden beside a Victorian walled garden in the heart of the East Neuk. We presently adopt Airbnb's enhanced cleaning protocol. The cottages are cosy, very comfortable and well equipped with south facing terraces, bistro table and chairs. Beaches, golf courses, village life, markets are all within a short distance. Its an easy walk to the pretty fishing village of Pittenweem, and St Andrews is 9 miles away The cottages are located next to the walled garden of the Old Grangemuir Estate and were developed from the potting sheds the estate gardeners used. The walled garden fed the whole estate and we still produce a lot of fruit and veg in the garden today. The terraced cottages face south and look onto the historic wall covered in ivy. Guests can breakfast on their terrace, or have an early evening drink as the sun goes down. The cottages have recently been upgraded throughout, are stylish, comfortable and have everything you need to use them as a base for your visit to the East Neuk.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Madeira in Fife. The cottage was spotlessly clean with all the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. There was a great welcome from Kate and it was great that our dog was made welcome as well. The cottage is in lovely grounds and only a 10min walk into Pittenweem and on into the surrounding Fife area. This made it ideal for lovely coastal walks. It was also nice that there was an environmental ethos to the site where recycling was encouraged. Would definitely recommend this place for a visit
My husband and I stayed in one of the terraced cottages for 5 nights - it was a perfectly comfortable stay, despite the not-so-perfect weather! The location was great - a 15 minute walk along a quiet road to get into Pittenweem or just 3 or 4 minutes drive into town by car. The cottage itself was perfectly sized for the two of us, and whilst the kitchen was small it still had everything we needed to cook dinners in - always handy! The bathroom looked recently refurbished which was great, and the cottage was clean when we arrived. We stayed in cottage number 5, and whilst we think there were people next to us - we didn't hear a peep from them! A super quiet & relaxing stay.

Madeira is 1 mile away from the pretty fishing village of Pittenweem, well know for its annual Arts Festival in August and as the last place on the East Neuk coast to still land fish and seafood. Our cottages are quiet and you can wander round the gardens at your leisure, walking through the woods, sitting under a shady copper beach, or having a drink by The Dell Firepit. But very close by we have markets, cafes, fantastic restaurants, beaches, golf courses, water sports and many more amenities like tennis courts, clay pigeon shooting and cliff walking.
Although you can walk to the string of East Neuk Villages from Madeira, each with its individual charm, we suggest its best to have a car to get around. There is a bus from the village and the nearest train station is at Leuchars 25 mins drive away. Some local businesses will pick you up from Madeira and drop you home if for example you book dinner at their place. There are several taxi firms in the area too.
