Johnny's Place is a tiny log cabin nestled in the woods of Whale Pass, Alaska. Located just a short walk to the mouth of Neck Lake Outlet, where it empties into Whale Passage. This location is known as a great Coho salmon fishing destination. The log cabin provides a cozy retreat after a day of enjoying the beautiful outdoors. The ability to provide yourself with hot food, hot showers, clean clothes and comfortable beds, will greatly enhance your enjoyment of our wonderful island. Welcome! Experience a truly Alaskan get-away. This is where you come to "unplug" from the outside world. Whale Pass boasts a total lack of cell phone coverage with Wi-Fi available 24/7 at the public library 3.5 miles away. The cabin is supplied by water that is collected in a tank and then filtered for safety. The water carries tannins which are harmless and give the water a colour similar to weak tea; this is common in SE Alaska when visiting outside cities. There is a trail directly across from the driveway that leads to the mouth of Neck Creek, where it empties into Whale Passage and provides fishing, as well as bird, bear and other wildlife viewing opportunities. We also have two, single person sea kayaks, with paddles & life jackets, to rent for an extra fee. Use them to explore the many lakes and coves in the area. There are many caves to explore on the north end of Prince of Wales Island, with the largest and easiest being El Capitan Cave. (Contact the US Forest Service for summer cave tour reservations.)
