Sylvia and the house were fantastic. We got an orientation tour, made to feel welcome and complimentary fruit and wine! The house and neighbourhood were exactly as advertised. All was excellent

We stayed in this spacious 4 room suite for the whole weekend. The hosts are very considerate, room service is excellent. 6 minutes drive to gondola. This was the best experience we've had in airbnb, the host is so careful that you can find everything you need in the chalet. 4 star experience

The house is all set up to welcome you; a binder with the house guide, recommendations, maps, etc. As well as gummy bears, a welcome note, and a couple bottles of wine (but it seems everyone gets something different from the guest book). The space is much bigger then what pictures make it seem like. Also the ad says 4 bedrooms, there are 5. Three have queen beds, two have two singles. As well as two couches and a long sectional. The main levels queen bed made of two mattresses (it's a German way of doing things). The fridge had two cartons of eggs and new milk. There was also new cereal, etc. So less grocery shopping! All bathrooms are also stocked with soap and shampoo/conditioner, as well as hair dryers and tons of towels. This location is at the very end of whistler (one of, if not, the last housing areas of whistler before you head to Pemberton), it's a 5-10 minute drive into the village, so if you're looking for a vacation close to the village where you walk everywhere I wouldn't recommend staying here. Instead I would recommend this for a big group get together. It is too big for just 4-5 people. Also be aware this isn't like a hotel experience where you don't have to worry about anything. It is expected of you to strip all the beds and start a load of laundry - which if I had known this I definitely would not have stayed there considering the amount of money I had to spend could have paid for a week to a month in a hotel/condo in the village where as I only had 5 days in this house and left early. Also if you're looking for your privacy tell the host that, as she texts quite a bit, and also very late at night. If you like host interaction then you'll love this place. Also be aware that if you're in your early/mid twenties she will give you a hard time for being "young" and worried about the house. I had to re-assure her many times despite having offered references, and communicating with her numerous times via e-mail, phone, and text, and telling her all my guests ages and professions etc, (all my guests were 25-35). She even wanted to come to check the house out before I checked out. So my weekend was spent having to reassure someone not trusting me over stereotyping my age group. Overall what I paid wasn't what I got and a relaxing weekend just became a hassle. Friendly turned to overbearing. But I am rating it 4 stars because other then the host interactions and cleaning the house, it's a nice place - the house is nice, very spacious and quiet when the tenant downstairs isn't home. Good for a getaway where you don't plan to leave the house very much and just want to enjoy the mountain views and hot tub and don't mind...

Sylvia's Gummichalet exceeded all of our expectations and needs on our recent annual ski trip to whistler. The house is elegant, yet homely and welcoming - Sylvia's great instructions and welcome letter certainly help with that. We had a group of 7 sleep comfortably with room to spare. The indoor hot tub was a first for our group and something we will try to find on our future trips. The next time we are in whistler though we unanimously agreed the Gummichalet is where we'd like to be!
