The neighbours are mainly local villagers, and farmers, some of whom speak excellent English, especially the young people, who are friendly and welcoming.
Close by, there are several bars, cafes and restaurants and shops and supermarkets and the tourist offices and cycle hire together with the Church, the Aqua Park, and the local museum .
There is a little lane opposite the house which brings you down to the centre of the village where there is a Post Office, a Bank (ATM) and local shops. The Petrol Station is on the approach to the village.

There is a regular bus service linking Bohinjska Bistrica with lake Bohinj, Vogel Cable Car, Savica Waterfall and in the opposite direction to Bled, Radovljica, Kranj and Ljubljana . The bus stop is just down the road. The railway station for the train through the famous Bohinj Tunnel to the Soca Valley is about 15 minutes up the hill. The train also goes to Radovlica and to Vintgar Gorge.
Cycles are available for hire in the village, and the wonderful cycle/walking path to the lake runs alongside the River Sava accessible within 10 minutes of the house.
Unfortunately due to safety issues on a sharp bend, Car parking is no longer available next to the house but you are able to stop adjacent o the house to unload and load the vehicle. There are spaces in the lay by nearby to park safely just 2-3 minutes down the road, free of charge, or down by the Post Office jus 5 minutes away.
It is highly advisable to purchase a Bohinj Card from the Tourist Agency which offers discounts on tourist attractions, - but especially discount on Car Parking near the lake, which is extremely expensive in the high season.
