Perfect place to start the hike, lovely owner

Très jolie Katun proche du départ de randonnées dans le parc Prokletije. Bien organisée, petite kitchenette et salle d'eau. Bien isolé (avec couverture et radiateur si besoin). Notre hôte était toujours présente sur place et très serviable. Espace commun agréable, table, hamac, barbecue. Chien présent très gentil. Belle vue sur la montagne, bien ensoleillé. Voisin d'un restaurant avec spécialités locales. Pas de wifi pas de réseau, dispo à 3 km en voiture. Immersion totale dans la montagne !

This review is based on a US traveler, not able to speak local language. Communications are done with the son who speaks English well. The host is his parents I assume and their English minimal. OK enough for the basics. The bungalows are located behind the main house. If you were to find this place at night, might be a little tricky to get there. Checkin was simple, they opened the gate for us, gave us options of which bungalow to choose and were very friendly and pleasant. The bungalows themselves, have a few small issues. There is only one window up front and small window in the bathroom. The loft bed gets stale air quite quickly and would benefit from a small window up top on the backside. The biggest for me was the smell of the septic system. The sink didn't have a ptrap installed so you could smell the septic fumes venting out. I do have a better sense of smell than most, so it may not bother you too much. They do a have a very friendly big dog named Ike who loves to play if you're that type. He does however bark like mad anytime he sees rabbit. And they keep rabbits. So he's chained up under the deck and barks at all hours for 5 minute stretches at a time. Not a big deal except if you're a lighter sleeper and noise will wake you as he barked quite a bit at night during our stay. The beds were fine, the bathroom was in order, and the water quality was great to us and we used it on our hike. The wifi was down when we were there so we can't speak to that. The hosts was nice, friendly, welcomed us into their home for kaffe and were all around nice people. The man didn't speak any English and woman did enough to get us by. There were a few struggles but everything was friendly. My only gripe came from breakfast. When we checked in she said let me know what time we wanted breakfast before our hike. Awesome. We said 0700 so we could beat the heat getting up the trail. She laughed a bit and asked if we were sure we wanted it that early. We said yes, is that OK? She said ok. Breakfast comes, we eat, it was good and she was wonderfully accommodating, but at the end there was an awkward conversation about the cost. She wanted us to pay for breakfast, which was totally fine for us. But the conversation was awkward to have at the time, and even though it was a struggle with the language barrier, it was obviously uncomfortable a bit. We paid €5 for the two of us, again which was totally fine. We just would've liked to known that it advance. Also anyone with any dairy or egg allergies, I'd suggest getting those sorted beforehand. After the rental I offered my thoughts, issues...
