While we knew we were staying in a motel we were unimpressed with the breakfast. The breakfast room was small and while the meal was from 6-9, at 8 there was very little food left. In addition, there was a child coughing constantly so we grabbed what was left of our food and left. The town is very dead, at least it was in Jan., so it was hard to find a decent place to eat. We did go to Rusty's down the street and the meal was fine.

We were still driving down the road when Aaron called to confirm our stay (it was after early check-in) and ask us about arrival time. He was very friendly, courteous, and informative. We checked in and he gave us numerous recommendations for dinner and showed us the breakfast room. Our hotel room was VERY clean, don't let the price deter you! No odors, no stains. The minifridge was clean, but it does not have a freezer section to refreeze your ice packs. :) Breakfast was simple, ingenious, well thought out, sufficient, varied, and of course included that Texas-shaped waffle! Ours was a quick one-night sleep, so did not explore the area. Felt safe and slept well! This is great bang for your buck, easy off and on I-40, and fun Route 66 touches. I will be staying again on my return trip, and whenever I can while passing through Texas!

great breakfast especially for the price! comfy rooms, clean, and nice staff. great little route 66 motel experience. love the Texas shaped waffles!
