Tucked away on the Nayarit coast 27 miles north of Puerto Vallarta is the authentic Mexican town of San Pancho. It takes about 45 minutes to get here by car from PVR, but the pristine beaches, lush jungles and magical sunsets are worth it. Visitors quickly discover this is more than just another beach town. Tranquilo Palomera is an eco-friendly boutique hotel filled with charm and character located in the heart of the city. The beach is only a three-minute walk away. “Our mission is to welcome travelers to a carefree, clean and comfortable haven for a unique experience, like nothing else in town”. All four rooms on the top floor have thatched roofs, giving a tree-house kind of experience. The top floor rooms are also classified as hostel-style, mainly for sound transfer but they are otherwise private. These rooms are best for groups, retreats or reunions. The second and third floors have wooden ceilings affording more privacy. Rooms vary in number/size of beds, air conditioning, decks, balconies, kitchenettes, and full or partial privacy walls around the bathroom. Take a close look at the photos to fully appreciate the “family tree” of room options and find the one that is right for you. Put this place on your bucket list if you want to travel sustainably and have a fun-filled adventure. On top of all of that, it has the best beach on the Nayarit coast; with magical sunsets and sunrises. If the treehouse vibe piques your interest, book your accommodation with Tranquilo Palomera.
Great spot! The staff is so kind and friendly, truly lovely. It’s a rustic accommodation, which we were totally fine with, and I think they describe it well in the listing and photos. Right on the main road in San Pancho, so very easy to walk everywhere.
The place is beautifully authentic but fairly primitive. It might be best used as a hostel instead of a boutique hotel. Staff were friendly, but amenities were satisfactory at best. There was very cheap “soap,” when the listing described it as having shampoo. It was my fault to think there would be reasonable shampoo and conditioner. There was not. That’s what I get for assuming. Also, we had to request ear plugs (which were very hard and uncomfortable), and even they didn’t come close to drowning out the terrible noise from music, drums and excessive chatting/laughter. I’m all for having a fun night, but the noise level was unacceptable for a small town like San Pancho. Granted, the worst was Friday and Saturday, but it went well after 0100, and our sleep quality was crap. Next time we will either stay away from town or at a place with sealed windows. This place is all open-airy and the like. It’s conveniently located close to the beach, but the pool is similar to a big bath tub. 👎🏻
San Pancho is proud of its sustainable eco-tourism efforts. This is one of the few places in Mexico to have a recycling program and environmental projects such as the sea turtle sanctuary. Healthy lifestyle experiences combined with wholesome food make it so easy to plan a wellness-focused vacation.
Foodies can stroll through the lively cobblestone streets and always find exciting menu creations and drink offerings. The food quality is reliably outstanding from delicious Green Glow Smoothies to Marlin Tacos or crepes for dessert.
Activities in the area include horseback riding, kayaking, hiking through ravines and waterfalls, biking, snorkeling, surfing some waves, yoga classes, or even watching the polo matches on Sunday.
Being a small town you can get there by taxi, it is well located as it is on a corner of the main avenue of the town.
We do not have private parking, but people can park their car on the streets of the hotel.
Normally people get around on foot, by motorcycle, bicycle, golf cart or taxi.
