We feel lucky to be the first guests in Maia’s homestay after the pandemic! The house itself is very spacious, clean, well-decorated, and comfortable. Expect yourself to be staying with Maia’s family, so you’ll get very a heartwarming welcome from the four of them and also get to be invited to family dinners/ gatherings! Of course it also means that you’ll only have bucket cold showers, and limited water at daytime, but as a reward you’ll have Maia, who is a high school biology teacher good at English, and Jeffrey, a university professor teaching agriculture, to explain you all the special traditions, cultures & the harsh reality living in Bajawa. They also got a farm at the backyard with pigs, dogs and chickens! Also able to rent scooter from them so not much to worry about even if the homestay is not at the town centre / tourist street. All in all, highly recommended and thanks Maia for taking care of us these days!

Maia was very nice and helpful. There are a few nice restaurants around and we had a lovely dinner around the area. I would recommend her!

Nous sommes restés 3 nuits chez Maia et notre séjour a été agréable avec de très bons moments partagés avec sa famille. Maia nous a accordé du temps dès notre arrivée pour nous conseiller sur les visites et nous aider dans le choix de notre programme. Le 1er soir nous sommes descendus avec sa famille au marché local, nous avons fait les courses ensemble et Maia a cuisiné un repas très sympathique. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié de pouvoir échanger avec elle et son mari et de passer des moments à discuter autour d'un café. La chambre était spacieuse, le lit confortable et l'environnement (maison à l'extérieur du centre de Bajawa) très calme ce qui était vraiment appréciable. La salle de bain est typiquement indonésienne et la maison est encore en cours d'aménagement, mais si vous recherchez des rencontres authentiques, vous ne regretterez pas votre passage chez Maia et David qui sont tous les deux charmants et s'expriment très bien en anglais, ce qui facilite la communication. Nous garderons de très bons souvenirs de notre passage chez vous, merci Maia et David!

Maias homestay is a little bit outside the main town in a quite area. But it‘s very well walkable to reach warungs. You can rent a moto from her neighbour for the normal price to get around the area. She can also arrange transport to other towns if needed. Maia and her family are very nice people, they let you stay in their home and your part of the family for some days. You will live like locals do, so don’t expect amenities like in a hotel. Maia and her husband were always ready to make a coffee and chat (amazing Bajawa coffee- must try!), gibe tips about the area and sightseeing or talk about their future. The 2 sons are just lovely!

Quiet place, very simple and anexo amazing family in there. Maia and husband are very helpfull and will make their best for your confort. Queen bed is very confortable. I recommend this accomodation.
