Myself and my lovely wife Suyapa live in the Hacienda La Esperanza here in Copan Ruinas, Honduras, and we are your hosts. I (Rodger), am the Founder and president of Paramedics For Children which is an international children's charity that was founded in 1996. I am an American and my wife Suyapa is Honduran. Suyapa comes from Tegucigalpa which is the capital of Honduras, and she is a retired director of a ballet school. I have worn many hats in my life, such as commercial Pilot, professional musician, singer, songwriter, creative copywriter, paramedic and real estate developer. Today finds me in the rolle of president of Paramedics For Children and I work here at the Hacienda overseeing field operations which includes our on site medical clinic for the poor, and a school supply program covering 25 schools and 2000 children here in the Copan Valley of Copan Ruinas. ABOUT THE HACIENDA LA ESPERANZA (The hacienda of hope) The hacienda was built in 2004. This Spanish Colonial Estate is known for it's attention to detail. Every component had to be crafted by hand, from authentic wood doors to the hanging chandeliers. As you look around you will find that the Hacienda is filled with turn of the century antiques as well as original paintings from some of the best artists in Honduras. Great care was taken in its construction with a design that lends itself to elegant living. Visitors are inspired by the peaceful setting of the Hacienda, and talk about the way the world seems to slow down the minute they arrive. Abundant green vistas, lovely flowers and numerous native birds top off the picture perfect effect.Creating the Hacienda was like building a movie set. So authentic was the construction and fabrication, that no power tools were used in its basic construction. Almost all of the furnishing are either genuine antiques or built on site in the Hacienda style. Amazingly the Hacienda is the only Bed and breakfast in all of Honduras, or perhaps the world who sole reason for being is to help the indigenous poor, donating back 100% of all room revenues to help the Mayan Chorti Indians of Honduras, some of the poorest people in the world. Here we use our infrastructure, and your tourist dollars to help the poor of Honduras. One hundred percent of all room rentals are donated directly to Paramedics For Children to support our school supply program as well as to support our medical clinic. That in itself is a great reason to visit us here at the Hacienda. Ours is a servant spirit, with a deep respect for our guests. The term "mi casa es su casa" is not a cliché at Hacienda La Esperanza. When you enter our gates you become a member of the family. We do everything in our power to see that you are amazed and enchanted.
