These guys were super nice. The hotel was very clean and just a short walk from the Escalante Neighbourhood which has lots of bars/restaurants. Recommend if staying in San Jose for a night or 2.

We stayed for two nights after a long flights into San Jose. The hotel Santo Tomas is a quite an oasis in the middle of this vibrant and at times loud city. We enjoyed our large room (despite we were not able to find the advertised safe), swam in the pool after long city sightseeing tour and my partner trained at the almost fully equipped outdoor gym. We booked the room with breakfast included which was also tasty. I think you could also put everything that needs to be cooled down in the refrigerator that's on the 1st floor. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the main streets but still our room was very quiet which we very much enjoyed. The reception and the food team were very really nice. It's a non smoking property which I very much support.

Het historische gebouw is werkelijk prachtig! Geweldige tegelvloeren, hoge plafonds, stijlvol gedecoreerd, mooi zwembadje en leuke zitjes verspreid door het hele hotel. Mijn kamer was aan de kleine kant en vrij donker. Geen punt, want ik kwam alleen overnachten. Maar op de foto's zie je grote kamers met balkon en dergelijke. Dat kwam niet overeen. Het ontbijt was eenvoudig maar okee. Je kan kiezen uit enkele opties (bonen, ei, toast) en dat wordt terplekke voor je klaargemaakt en geserveerd. Koffie, thee en sap kan je zelf pakken. Het hotelpersoneel is uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam. San Jose kan me helaas niet bekoren. Veel daklozen en weinig bezienswaardigs gezien. Café Rojo vlakbij (100 m) kan ik wel aanbevelen voor een diner.

El hotel está ubicado muy cerca del centro y se puede ir caminando. El desayuno está muy bueno y lo hace un señor con su esposa ahí mismo. El dueño del hotel estaba presente y se acercó a charlar con todos los huéspedes, muy cordial. La habitación estaba bien y la ducha salía caliente y muy buena. No hubo ruidos molestos a la noche por lo que pudimos descansar bien. Nos dejaron guardar las maletas antes del horario del check in para poder pasear tranquilos. Lo recomendamos. Tiene un gimnasio para hacer ejercicio y además una pileta con jacuzzi!
