Martinsville · 整套小木屋 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住5人 · hideaway deep in the forest
This cabin is located in the middle of one of the largest privately owned old growth forests in Indiana. The driveway is 1/4 mile long gravel, leading up a mild hill. Surrounded by 100+ ft tall old growth oak, maple, hickory, cherry, walnut, tulip, sycamore, sassafrass. Streams and creeks border and run through. Stands of 100 plus year old pines dot the forest, planted intentionally . Stargazing, hiking, sitting in woods with the animals. You might be the only person on the planet.
Brian was super responsive and very helpful. My fiancé and I needed a place to spend the night while traveling for work. The location is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting outside by a fire. The home was nice, AC units, and equipped with water bottles. No microwave, but it does have a toaster oven. Thanks!
We arrived during a torrential downpour. Brian personally greeted us to make sure we made it safely and let us know the safest place to go if the weather became really bad. (Fortunately it didn’t) Although we stayed pretty much unplugged, it was nice to have a Roku tv to be able to use to login to our subscriptions to watch a movie at night. Our afternoons were spent sitting in the sun on the deck reading, journaling, or simply listening to the sounds of nature. The wood stove cranked out the heat and took the chill away in the morning. (We turn the heat pretty low at night.) Hot water galore! The cabin is cozy without feeling cramped.
Our stay started with a horrible storm so we were unable to make it our first night but Brian was very understanding and refunded us the first night. When we got there it was very beautiful with the snow. Enjoy the quietness and the scenery. The night sky was even more beautiful with a clear view of the stars. The bright stars were really a view on its own. Really recommend the beauty of the stay. Perfect for a weekend getaway. We’re definitely coming back for future getaways. Brian was a great host very responsive with any questions. He stays close by so knowing you’re really not alone in the wilderness gave us a peace of mind. If you need anything he is there to help.
Located in a rural area, but 25 minute from the airport and 35 minutes to downtown Indy. Martinsville and Bloomington are about 25 and 35 minutes.
This where the glacier stopped and receded. It created smooth land for farming, which was deforested. Then, the land got too rugged. The hills and valleys caused by the glacier were not suitable.
So the trees were left to grow. A glorious mix of every hardwood you can think of, with a few stands of 100 year old pines thrown in. Trails wind through one of the largest, privately owned forests, taking you to a level of privacy that is difficult to find. Where you know you will not see another human. Where you become just another animal in the woods.
The small towns of Wilbur and Eminence are about 5 min away, offering convenience stores, while Monrovia is 15 minutes and has a full size grocer, liquor store and a couple restaurants.
