Oinoessa is a complex of four luxurious stone-built houses, consisted of 8 deluxe suites . It is located in one of the most scenic and unspoilt areas of Cyprus, the picturesque village of Lofou. Here, you will find peace and tranquillity: it is the perfect getaway from the stresses of modern life. Location Our guest-houses are situated in the heart of Lofou village, in a beautiful area, rich in the traditional Cypriot architecture. Hardly any traffic disturbs the atmosphere, so you can really appreciate the beauty of the place in peace. The scenic views and the narrow, stone built pedestrian paths that wind through the hills are rich in the local folklore and great spiritual traditions of Cyprus. The name Lofou is known not only for its traditional stone houses and scenic views, but also for the production of popular local wines and zivania (the Cypriot style grappa). Not many years ago, almost every villager was able to produce at home local wine for personal use or for export to neighbour-villages. Our grandparents were no exception. At home, they had all the amenities needed to produce the wine. This is anyway the reason that we named our guesthouses after this specific name• “Oinoessa” (from the greek οίνος + έσσω ￫wine + home). The transformation All of the eight suites that nowadays form Oinoessa, were built in the middle of the 18th century by our grand- grandfathers, and have been lovingly restored by the family and local artisans, without destroying any of the original features. The stone floors, the original walls, the ceilings and the staircases have been restored to their original state using local stone and wood, retaining the character and charm of the original buildings whilst incorporating the comforts that any guest would expect. What we offer Oinoessa’s luxurious suites offer comfort with style… Each of our eight suites have been elegantly and stylishly decorated, and designed to provide all of the modern amenities and conveniences needed for your comfort and relaxation during your stay. Our studios are ideal for couples, families or groups who enjoy peace and privacy and want to explore the traditions of Cyprus. Suites Large patio doors open from the living rooms, leading out into an attractive tree lined courtyard offering a shady spot to relax and dine. Most of our suites have their unique fireplaces that offer the best atmosphere while dining or drinking local goods with your beloved ones. The plush beds and the beauty-rest pillow mattresses that are covered in fine linens ensure a restful night’s sleep, and our fully-equipped kitchens give you the opportunity to cook your own dishes for that extra personal touch. Oinoessa also offers a wide choice of indoor and outdoor facilities and comforts such as breakfast, free Internet WiFi access, air-conditioning and LED Televisions. Spots in Lofou Our village can provide you with whatever you need during your holiday. There is a mini market (Mpakalliko tou Xeni) available seven days a week, coffee shops and traditional tavernas serving local drinks and “mezedes” (small dishes of Cypriot cuisine) and a wine bar . There’s also a church in the centre of the village and a small chapel for those who want to visit. While walking in the village, you will surely meet local people that will lead you wherever you need to go. Walking in the village The legendary quality of the light early in the morning and late in the afternoon thrills the artists and photographers that visit the narrow stone built paths and local valleys and beguiles those who are visiting just for enjoyment. Calmness is the biggest asset of Lofou, so we suggest you take full advantage of it so as to leave the village as refreshed as possible. Lofou’s position Lofou is set about 26 kilometres north-west of the city of Limassol and about 20 kilometres from the Troodos mountain, which is the highest point of Cyprus. Brief History Lofou’s history lies back to the 12th Century, but the entire area must have been inhabited since the Bronze age, so it is steeped in history and culture.
