Although it is not the first time an artificial island made its way into existence, the island of Hulhumale is unique in that although it was designed to extend the boundaries of Maldives retained its natural charm. It’s barely different to most other Maldivian islands and its freshly planted trees, open beaches; golden-white sand and azure blue waters are simply awe-inspiring. This island is also home to a famous, golden-domed mosque, Iconic Central Park with Musical Fountain, Yoga Platform, Jogging Track, Outdoor gym, Skateboarding etc. There are two islands of Hulhumale, Phase 1 & Phase2. Both islands are connected with a beautiful bridges & under the bridge there’s a lake running through is width of the island & it will remind you the feeling of Venice City of Italy.

Hulhumale’, Geography and Development
The Hulhumale Island was born out of the shallow blue Hulhule lagoon, lined with driftwood and coral, and decorated with a grid of roads that faintly resemble runways. Palm trees through the city keep it in sync with the surrounding islands and the island itself is planned to act as an overflow for Male’ City. Despite being artificial, it feels strangely natural. The island is designed to be flood resistant.
Although there are many open roads through the island, there is still plenty of open space for anyone who would love to cycle around or go jogging. A Despite being as thinly populated as a village, Hulhumale has some nightlife activities like Floating Bars, Airport Bar, Sheesha Bars, Coffee Shops etc.
Ecology and Life of Hulhumale
The island of Hulhumale was built in the quest to create a new land mass with several green initiatives in mind. Green architecture and green energy have certainly been the building blocks of this island and there are many more green initiatives in progress. It is, in fact, the first of the inhabited islands to go against littering. A walk through the island reveals well-planned bins and an advanced waste disposal and collection system in place.
