Originally from the UK, I moved to Italy in 1999 and settled in the area of Tuscany with husband Lorenzo in 2001. Lorenzo is originally from Turin and graduated in hotel management and catering and has worked in prestigious hotels throughout Europe. He primarily worked as head barman, so if you are looking to learn how to make the perfect Martini or Negroni, he's your man! I recently hung up my wings after 20 years of flying the world with a leading British airline as cabin crew. Due to my training and experiences I have come to learn the needs of the traveler and how attentive customer service can enhance a guest's experience. THE BIRTH OF CASA COLOMBA It started with the purchase of a Medieval tower house in the centre of Vicopisano in 2007…. Then came the painstaking and loving restoration of each of its floors including the 12th Century tower room…. As with many historic restoration projects the budget ran out before the project was finished!….. To inject some more income into the project, the top floor of our new home became an overnight vacation rental….. We took some photos and posted our details on the web…… Within 24 hours we had received four enquiries and hence our journey began. Our little village soon had a steady stream of visitors from overseas and both our guests and the locals were loving it…. Our guests loved the idea of staying in an historic building full of character as well as enjoying the authenticity of the local area.. Before we knew it the local residents where asking if they could open their homes to visitors and share with them the traditions of their village. We liked the idea and since then we are now managing 10 properties throughout the village. WHAT WE LIKE Lorenzo and I both like socialising, good food, chilled prosecco, jazz and soul music, days at the beach, walks in the country, cooking and of course travelling. We don't tend to travel too far because we love Tuscany and Italy although we nearly always holiday in Greece. OUR GUESTS We always say we have the best guests ever!.... and we really do mean that. We've met people form all over the world and everyone has a story. Of course we always respect our guests privacy but if you want to chat over a glass of Prosecco in the bar next door - we'll be there! We love to socialise with our guests but unfortunately we don't always have the time. We enjoying sharing our local knowledge and introducing you to the local artisans, food producers and characters.
