Garden House Eco Barn is part of a cluster of converted barns located in a tiny hamlet close to South Creake just off the main coast road to Burnham Market. The rural location is adjacent to a Roman Road, and is surrounded by privately owned arable farmland teeming with birds and wildlife. The property is within easy reach of the golden sands and shady pinewoods of Holkham Bay, often described as one of the best beaches in Britain, and probably the finest stretch of beach on the Norfolk coast. Close by you'll find bustling Wells-next-the-Sea, with its individual shops and traditional fish and chips. Burnham Market with its smart boutiques, antique shops and restaurants is just 10 minutes away. For foodies there is the fabulous local farm shop in the medieval town of Little Walsingham.
Our local town is Fakenham and is within 4 miles driving distance. Here you’ll find a cinema, an excellent fish & chip shop, Drifters and the usual banks, chemists, butchers and supermarkets; Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl & Aldi. Fakenham comes alive on Thursdays when locals congregate for the weekly auction and open-air market featuring fresh fruit stalls and a great selection of bric- a-brac. The local shell petrol station is within 3 miles and has a mini Waitrose essentials & food shop.
You’ll find plenty to see and do during your stay with many excellent family attractions nearby. Guest favourite places include Wells-next-the-Sea town & beach, indoor play at Hootz House Pensthorpe nature park, heritage steam train rides, seal spotting trips and much more.
There are great cycling routes to the coast from our doorstep joining up with the Norfolk Coast Cycleway – Walsingham & Wells Explorer route 5 and the Wells & Holkham circuit. There is also an amazing community nature reserve owned by The Hawk & Woodpecker Trust at Sculthorpe Moor within 2.5 miles of the cottage. So, whether your ideal stay is about getting out and discovering our fabulous local area or more to do with giving the car a rest and staying onsite; reading, relaxing and swimming, there is plenty to keep everyone amused.

To stay at the Garden House Eco Barn in Cranmer a car is essential. Local public transport is scarce. There is plenty of private off-road parking onsite within designated parking areas. The closet train station is King's Lynn, 21 miles from Cranmer. From the station guests arriving by train would need to hire a taxi, there are usually plenty just outside the station. We can put you in touch with local bike hire to book in advance of your stay if you wish to give the car a rest. There is a great bus service that runs along the coast and can be picked up from Wells-next-the-Sea. Buses to Norwich and kings Lynn can be picked up in Fakenham town.
