It was an important landmark on the first route of the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela and preserves stately homes of great historical interest. In the Plaza de la Concepción square you can see the oldest buildings, of medieval origin. At the entrance to the village is the Baroque palace of the Marqués del Puerto, whose façade bears the legend: "no fallara esta espada quebrar miles" (this sword will not fail to break thousands).
The parish church of Santa María houses a 16th century Plateresque choir. The Baroque tower is considered to be the most slender and well-designed in the whole of the Rioja Alavesa, the figure of the weathervane that crowns it is known as "La Giralda".
The Plaza Mayor is almost all of interest: with a large 17th century mansion and a Renaissance building.
Oyón conserves numerous popular festivals, among which it is worth highlighting the patron saint festivities in honour of San Vicente and San Anastasio, with its 4 giants and 4 big-headed figures and the "Revolcón del Katxi", a character of unknown origin, dressed in a felt suit with large red and green stripes, wearing a hat of the same fabric with a fox skin hanging from it and twirling the flag. Also, during these fiestas, an event called "los Marchos de San Vicente" takes place, where a gigantic pyre of vine shoots is burnt in remembrance of those that were lit to illuminate the town. Also noteworthy in these fiestas is "El Torillo", a fireworks display on which a bull and a peasant are placed. In the Thanksgiving festivities in August, the "Bajada del Katxi" (Descent of the Katxi) stands out.
