A 15-20 minute drive from Pury End, Stowe House is a grade I listed country house in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England. It is the home of Stowe School, an independent school owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust who have to date (March 2013) spent more than £25m on the restoration of the house. The gardens are a significant example of the English garden style, along with part of the Park, passed into the ownership of The National Trust in 1989. The parkland surrounding the gardens is open to the public 365 days a year. National Trust members have free access to the gardens but there is a small charge for all visitors to the house (well worth it!) which goes towards restoration of the building.

There are dozens of beautiful parks in the vicinity to choose from (Campbell Park, Dragon Park in Great Linford, Pirate Park in Loughton, Snail Park in Walnut Tree, Salcey Forest, Stony Stratford Nature Reserve, etc.) offering a wide range of activities ranging between high-level children’s playgrounds to bike routes to canal walks. Our favourite is Willen Lake which is only 20 minutes drive from the house providing stunning walks and a great infrastructure of activities for the entire family including but not limite

Dining
There are some lovely restaurants and pubs in this area, some of which are on the canal, i.e. The Boat Inn and the Spice of Bruerne in Stoke Bruerne and the Royal Oak and Five Bells in Blisworth. Also popular in the area are The Plough Inn in Shutlanger and The Folly opposite Towcester Racecourse. Frank’s Hamburger house in Towcester High Street is also recommended. Our local pub is The Barley Mow in Paulerspury (a 10 minute walk from Lower Street, across the field toward the church). Our favourite is Indian Namji in Old Wolverton offering a wide range of cuisines ranging from omnivorous to vegetarian to vegan.
We have a local bus stop which serves Northampton and Milton Keynes but the local area is best explored by car. We have a great network of footpaths which is good for walking and cycling. We are also close to the Grand Union Canal which has some lovely canal-side pubs and restaurants.
Pury End is a small village with around 40 houses, 2 miles from Towcester and 10 miles from Milton Keynes, Northampton and Buckingham. We are just a 5-10 minute drive from Silverstone (transfers available). We have a small supermarket and local pub within walking distance, and Towcester offers a variety of food and supermarket options. Below is a list of local sites worth visiting.
