What an exceptionally lovely place to spend some well-earned time away from it all. Abergeirw is a traditional Welsh farmhouse which will have your heart the minute you walk through the door. Recently – and obviously lovingly – renovated, the cottage blends modern comforts and luxuries with bags of period charm. Expect exposed beams, a huge inglenook fireplace and original stone floors. This is a deep-cosy-and-comfort kind of a home. The location is quite simply stunning, with the kind of awe-inspiring views that do something profound to your heart and soul. It is tucked into the hills of the Coed y Brenin forest park (Coed y Brenin means King's Forest, by the way), an area renowned for its stunning walks, diverse wildlife and famous mountain bike trails. A beautiful holiday cottage in a remote mountain location, you'll find it on a quiet leafy lane with a backdrop of forests and hills. This lovely rural hamlet was the last place in Wales to be connected to the grid – until 2008 there was no mains electricity around these parts. The front door opens into a small entrance hall with an open plan kitchen, living and dining room just beyond. What a beautiful characterful space. There's a large inglenook fireplace, exposed beams, deep-set windows with slate sills and a stone-flagged floor. The whole space has been artfully and stylishly designed with a colour scheme which is subtle, soothing and serene. The kitchen area is well-equipped with everything you could need for your holiday feasts. There is a large range cooker, plenty of cupboard space, an island workspace and Belfast sink. An oval dining table seats six. The sitting room area has been arranged around that wonderful inglenook fireplace, which houses a toasty woodburning stove. A comfortable deep sofa, coffee table and chairs make the most of this cosy corner. Beyond the open plan living space, you'll find a well fitted out utility room and downstairs shower room. There's a backdoor entry here too, so it's a great place to strip off wellies and walking gear after a muddy walk. Returning to the kitchen, an original spiral staircase takes us upstairs. There are four bedrooms up here, so room for six guests. The rooms are just gorgeous. Each double has a woodburning stove – can you think of anything more wonderful to wake up to? We recommend you stay with someone who will be willing to bring you a cuppa in bed. You won't want to get out of it in a hurry. Again, the colours of the fabrics and furnishings in the bedrooms are really lovely here – everything is high quality and new. There are more exposed beams and some attractive timber panelling. It has a very cosy feel. There is a spacious family bathroom with a roll-top bath. Outside, there is a lovely tiered garden with a terrace area for al fresco dining and drinks. Plenty of space to soak up some more of those stunning country views.
