Catherine and Maxence are excellent hosts who greeted us warmly and welcomed us as though we were old friends, personally showing us to our beautiful accommodation amid their ancestral property. Their pride shows in the careful attention paid to the architecture and decor, plus the little touches they did to make our stay special, such as the local cheese and most delicious strawberries awaiting us in the fridge. Maxence brought us a map and took the time to go over the highlights of the area making sure we knew the best routes to maximize our time and hit the most impressive sites (of which there are many!) He even started a cozy fire in our fireplace one especially chilly night. If you’re looking for a unique place to stay while exploring the Dordogne region, this is a great location. Be sure to visit the farmer’s market in Cubjac on Friday, and the chateau of Hautefort. Thank you, Catherine and Maxence for your warmth and kindness.
We were 2 couples travelling together and the gîte was perfect for us!! It was beautiful, peaceful, quiet, very comfortable and situated on a gorgeous estate. The gardens and surroundings were very pretty. The pool area is fantastic and we swam every afternoon. We also walked in the surrounding forest which was gorgeous. Loved having Iris (the Aussie sheepdog) coming to visit and Zebulon (the donkey) in the bottom of the garden. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate in most nights (we made good use of the Weber) The beautiful gray flowers and goodies in the fridge when we arrived were an unexpected but very welcome treat 😃 Catherine and Max were interactive and extremely helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend this accomodation.
We had a fabulous stay as a group of 4 adults in Chez Colette et mini. Catherine was super responsive and helpful from initial booking right through our stay. She welcomed us along with Maxence. Both provided us with fantastic recommendations for restaurants, places to visits and walking/running routes. The accommodation it self is beautiful just as the pictures show stunningly finished to a very high standard. The accommodation is set in a wonderfully kept estate with lots of forest paths to explore and beautiful gardens. The grounds were so quite and peaceful a wonderful place to chill out and unwind especially by the lovely pool area. We will be returning! Rebecca and co. Xxx
This was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. Catherine and Maxence were very kind and helpful. They gave us restaurant recommendations, made reservations for us, and had many suggestions for things to do in the area. The place is beautiful, the pool is lovely, and the location is central to many attractions of the Dordogne region. We had an absolutely fabulous visit.
Great location and lovely home in which to stay. Catherine and Max were very helpful with local information. The salt water pool is lovely and there were plenty of sun loungers. The boulangerie is an easy walk.

Maxence, mon compagnon, et moi sommes heureux de vous accueillir personnellement dans notre maison de famille, la Chartreuse du Maine. Faire de vos vacances un séjour inoubliable est notre raison d'être. Nous pouvons le faire car nous habitons sur place, et sommes disponibles et aux petits soins... avec une grande discrétion. La Chartreuse du Maine a été achetée par mon arrière grand-père en 1925. Le Maine est le paradis de mes vacances d'enfant (choyée par mes grands-parents), d'ado et de femme adulte. Cet attachement à ce lieu est la raison pour laquelle Maxence et moi avons tout quitté à Paris, famille, amis, métier de photographe et d'illustrateur, pour le garder et le partager avec vous. C'est une success-story car depuis 15 ans, des milliers de personnes, venues des 4 coins du monde, ont passé des vacances extraordinaires au Maine. Nous remercions tous les voyageurs qui nous ont fait confiance et grâce a qui nous réalisons notre rêve de transmettre notre bonheur de vivre dans ce domaine privé unique au monde.
