This gite breathes history. The large kitchen, with wooden beams and unpainted walls, is a breath of fresh air for history lovers. The gite has been furnished in a vintage style with attention and an eye for detail. The sofas and chairs around the enormous wood-burning stove in the large living room look inviting. Tonight we'll throw a few logs in the stove. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need in terms of crockery and equipment (electric hob, combination microwave, Senseo, kettle, refrigerator, dishwasher). The spiral staircase to the first floor is spacious, and when you reach the top your jaw drops. A space under the beams with three large bedrooms, a spacious bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. The bedroom at the front has two single beds. The bedroom in the middle also has two single beds, and the large bedroom at the rear has 2 single to double beds (1.40 m wide). On the ground floor there is also a toilet and a bedroom with 2 single beds at the front near the front door. The spacious conservatory at the back of the house can serve as a communal dining area for 16-18 people. For group reservations for the entire domain, this house is ideal as a central meeting place.

There are many walking, cycling and mountain bike routes in the forests surrounding the Domaine. The GR 137 (a long-distance hiking trail of 52 km from Autun to Nolay) passes just behind the Domaine. The waterfall (100 meters walk from the Domaine) is also worth a visit. About 1.5 kilometers away is the village of Saint Sernin du Bois on a lake. Here you can do your daily shopping at the small supermarket, the boulanger and boucher. There is also a post office and the Haute Cuisine Restaurant 'Du Chateau' by chef Laurent Bouthenet. The lake is the region's drinking water supply. Wonderful to walk there. Unfortunately, swimming and fishing are not allowed.
What is there to do in the region?
The nearest large town is Autun (19 km). Autun is a beautiful place with a rich history. The medieval center offers ample reason to spend an afternoon there. There is a Roman theater and the city is completely walled. The impressive 12th century Saint-Lazare Cathedral is famous for its tympanum The Last Judgment. The shopping promenade is car-free and there are nice shops. On the square you can visit the various cafés with sunny terraces. The golf course has 18 holes and there are beautiful hiking and mountain biking trails to the Croix de Liberation, from which there are stunning views of the city and surroundings. In clear weather you can even see Mont Blanc.
The Office du Tourisme has many tips and brochures for excursions. It is worth mentioning that there is a TGV station in the town of Le Creusot, 7.5 km from the Domaine. The train from Paris to Lyon stops there about every hour and a half. Cars can be rented through SIXT.
