Escape from the bustle of everyday life in this beautiful cottage in the peaceful Normandy countryside. Perfect for a creative retreat or family get together, it's full of rustic charm, whether you're cosying up by the fire or sharing a big meal with your favourite people. It's comfy and characterful, set in a friendly hamlet with bigger towns, swimming lakes and picturesque villages nearby. Unwind, enjoy a slower pace of life and spend time with the people who matter. The front door of the cottage opens onto a large sitting room with beautiful tiled floor, two sofas, a woodburner, and stereo that plays vinyl, radio and connects via bluetooth. There is a spacious dining table with two benches and two chairs, comfortably seating 8. The kitchen has a smaller table and chair, so you can chat while you're cooking or have a quiet breakfast looking out onto the garden. There's an electric range, Smeg fridge, sink, and cupboards equipped with all the cooking essentials. The water heater and fuse box are also in the kitchen. Off the kitchen is the 'cave' - this is a storage space for the owners only, and not for guest use. Upstairs there's a spacious double bedroom with window shutters, desk, chair and small sofa; a bathroom with towels, basin, loo and electric shower; and a sweet twin room with window shutters. On the landing there's a linen cupboard in case you need spare bedding. On the next floor up there's a light-filled attic room with two single beds and a double bed, plus a desk and chair. All bedrooms have infrared radiators, mattress toppers and comfy bedding. Outside, there's a sunny front gravel garden with small table and chairs for al fresco meals with the sound of the church bells in the background. The back garden has newly planted fruit trees and hedge (though this is still very young), a herb bed, and gravelled area with a larger table and chairs. The hamlet is small and quiet, and there's a lovely walk from the cottage down to a mill stream and beyond to an old farm. A three-minute drive away in the next village there's a baguette vending machine with delicious fresh bread, and a bar/ restaurant. Nearby is a small village with shop and nice restaurant. Ten minutes away is Gorron, with a market, supermarkets, launderette, and brocante. Domfront is a beautiful medieval town about 15 minutes' drive away, with antique shops, bars and restaurants. Mayenne is around 30 minutes away and has a bigger market, castle, hypermarket and excellent restaurants. Information about local food markets is available upon request. There are swimming lakes at La Ferté Macé, Fougères and Ambrières. You can also kayak at Ambrières, and Fougeres has a zip wire over the lake. There's a heated outdoor swimming pool and tennis court at Ambrières camp site. Our neighbours are extremely helpful, and will be your point of contact during your stay if you need anything immediate. There are two bikes in the shed at the front right of the cottage which you're welcome to use (though they are pretty old and the tyres might need pumping!). ---- La porte d'entrée du chalet s'ouvre sur un grand salon avec un beau sol carrelé, deux canapés, un poêle à bois et une chaîne stéréo qui diffuse des vinyles, une radio et se connecte via Bluetooth. Il y a une table à manger spacieuse avec deux bancs et deux chaises, pouvant accueillir confortablement 8 personnes. La cuisine est équipée d'une table et d'une chaise plus petites, afin que les gens puissent discuter tout en cuisinant ou prendre un petit-déjeuner au calme avec vue sur le jardin. Il y a une cuisinière électrique, un réfrigérateur Smeg, un évier et des placards équipés de tous les éléments essentiels pour cuisiner. Le chauffe-eau et la boîte à fusibles se trouvent également dans la cuisine. À côté de la cuisine se trouve la « grotte » : il s’agit d’un espace de stockage réservé aux propriétaires et non aux invités. A l'étage, il y a une chambre double spacieuse avec volets, bureau, chaise et petit canapé ; une salle de bain avec serviettes, lavabo, toilettes et douche électrique ; et une jolie chambre double avec volets. Sur le palier, il y a une armoire à linge au cas où vous auriez besoin de literie de rechange. À l'étage supérieur se trouve une chambre mansardée lumineuse avec deux lits simples et un lit double, ainsi qu'un bureau et une chaise. Toutes les chambres disposent de radiateurs infrarouges, de surmatelas et d'une literie confortable. À l'extérieur, il y a un jardin de gravier ensoleillé avec une petite table et des chaises pour les repas en plein air avec le son des cloches de l'église en arrière-plan. Le jardin arrière comprend des arbres fruitiers nouvellement plantés et une haie comestible (bien qu'elle soit encore très jeune), un parterre d'herbes aromatiques et une zone gravillonnée avec une table et des chaises plus grandes. Le hameau est petit et calme, et il y a une belle promenade depuis le chalet jusqu'à un ruisseau et au-delà jusqu'à une ancienne ferme. A trois minutes en voiture, dans le village voisin, vous trouverez un distributeur de baguettes avec un délicieux pain frais et un bar/restaurant. A proximité se trouve un petit village avec magasin et restaurant sympa. À dix minutes se trouve Gorron, avec un marché, des supermarchés, une laverie et une brocante. Domfront est une belle ville médiévale à environ 15 minutes en voiture, avec des antiquaires, des bars et des restaurants. Mayenne est à environ 30 minutes et possède un plus grand marché, un château, un hypermarché et d'excellents restaurants. Des informations sur les marchés alimentaires locaux sont disponibles sur demande. Il y a des lacs de baignade à La Ferté Macé, Fougères et Ambrières. Vous pouvez également faire du kayak à Ambrières et Fougères possède une tyrolienne au-dessus du lac. Le camping d'Ambrières possède une piscine extérieure chauffée et un court de tennis. Nos voisins sont extrêmement serviables, et seront votre point de contact pendant votre séjour si vous avez besoin de quelque chose immédiatement. Il y a deux vélos dans le hangar à l'avant droit du chalet que vous pouvez utiliser (même s'ils sont assez vieux !).
