The area north of the bridge features a tall modern structure, while in German Village, buildings are typically no taller than three stories. Five blocks south, the spire of St. Mary Church rises 197 feet above the sidewalk. German Village's architecture includes orange masonry and many brick-paved streets. It has preserved its original 1840s-1890s architecture and mixed residential-commercial character. Residents often walk due to limited driveways and street parking. The neighborhood is densely packed, with buildings often inches apart, many originally multi-family. German Village stands out for its enduring appearance, offering a glimpse into Columbus's past.
