Beautiful Shenandoah Valley views await in Middletown, VA! Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly destination. Some of the highlights of this country home include: ~ A spacious backyard overlooking Cedar Creek national park with gorgeous mountain views ~ Large outdoor playground to keep the kids happy ~ Convenient location near the intersection of I-81 and I-66, and also next door to our BBQ restaurant and Market... closes at 7pm, so you won't have to worry about the noise, only benefit from the convenience. ~ Peaceful mountain views from the lovely breakfast nook ~ Two bedroom, 1 bath with four beds (two Queen and two twin) ~ A downstairs master bedroom with Queen bed ~ One large bedroom upstairs with three beds. It's technically two rooms but they adjoin and there is no door between them. You have to pass thru the Queen bedroom to get downstairs. ~ Dining for six inside plus a picnic table and charcoal grill outside ~ High speed internet with streaming TV ~ Fully stocked kitchen ~ Small fire pit ~ Front room with small table and kids games ~ Full size washer and dryer and detergent

This old farmhouse has its quirks and a few things the hosts might do to improve, but overall worked out OK for our family. I do ultimately recommend staying here, especially if your needs are simple and practical, but it is not (yet) a 5 star listing. PROS: Setting is gorgeous and peaceful. Our kids loved seeing the cows come right up to the fence line. It is up the road from an ice cream shop and as easily accessible to the highway and other towns as described. We felt safe. We found the kitchen, bathroom, linens, towels, etc. to be clean. Julie was responsive and kind. CONS: Upstairs is actually one cohesive space, not two bedrooms. No door between the two spaces and also no door at the top of the stairs so it is more of an attic/loft. The house was surface level clean but not CLEAN clean. The middle floor smelled like smoke (maybe residual from renovations/workers?). Some basics such as tissues were missing. Pillows were very flat, bedding was fine but nothing special.
