We are best suited for those who plan to actively engage Alaska during the day and need a simple bed to sleep at night. Up to four guests can sleep comfortably in this no-thrills room. Enjoy two new queen beds, an x-large Big Joe bean bag, black-out curtains, a luggage rack, and a shared bathroom. Downtown Simple Stays makes the convenience of staying in Downtown Fairbanks affordable. If you are looking for luxury accommodations with many high-end amenities, you may be better fit for the expensive hotel across the street. However, if you are happy to have a comfortable bed, clean room, and friendly host, look no further. Here is some additional information to help you decide if Downtown Simple Stays if right for you: You will be staying on the 2nd floor (no elevator) of a historic, converted, "commercial" building; the four guest rooms of different sizes used to be offices or conference rooms. There are two shared, single user bathrooms; both are gender neutral (co-ed) and will be used by multiple guests from four guest rooms. One of the bathrooms has a shower, sink, and single toilet while the other bathroom will soon have a sink, single toilet, and washer /dryer (for guest use). The second bathroom is currently under construction. The shower room is ready and brand new! All bathroom spaces are for use by one person at time (with door locks). If you prefer your own private bathroom that no one else uses, this may not be the best fit for you. Parking is free in front of and all around the building but is limited by the city to two hours at a time from 9am - 6pm, Monday through Friday (if you arrive at 3:59pm, you have two hours - until 5:59pm - before you get a ticket; but no tickets are written after 6pm). After 6pm week days and all weekends there is unlimited free street parking. Other free parking, including long term and/or overnight free parking, with no restrictions whatsoever (weekends or week days) is available in the Sadler's Furniture parking lot (three blocks away) or the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parking lot (two blocks away - over the Chena River bridge). The building is historic (old). There are lots of new things, like carpet and paint, but the hallways can squeak, there is no air conditioning (usually not needed in interior Alaska anyway) no individual heat thermostats, and no elevator. If you have mobility issues, this will be a challenging place to stay since all guest rooms are up a flight of stairs. If you get hot easily, we have new, poweful, and modern Lasko fans that rotate with a remote to cool the air nicely. There is fast FREE WIFI (191.6 mbps download speed - 25.1 mbps upload speed) but none of the rooms have individual TVs, VCR's, or DVD players. This accommodation is best for those who bring their own cell phone or tablet and are happy watching shows and movies from their own streaming platforms. Or, for those that want to game (for free) in the adjacent business, Gamer's Lounge & Internet Cafe is an option during their business hours (located in the same building, 1st floor). Rooms do not have individual refrigerators, coffee pots, ice machines, or microwaves but there is a refrigerator, Keurig, ice machine, and microwave for common use. Unlike a hotel, there are no staff members to make your bed or take out your trash on a daily basis. The building, besides four guest rooms, has two small retail offices within; a tattoo artist and a camera repair man. If you think you might be bothered by seeing their customers walking down the hall (although rare), this may not be the best fit for your lodging needs. As our Airbnb guests, you are invited to enjoy free and unlimited gaming at Gamer's Lounge & Internet Cafe (same building, 1st floor) during their business hours. You can watch TV (multiple 75' HD Smart TVs) or use a computer for Internet. Need to print a page or two? No problem, you can print a couple pages for free. In addition, there are a lot of games to play.
