Retired dairy/fish farmer,still live on farm ,son milks 800 cows with 2 or so employees. have and fly a vintage plane (auster) hobbies include gem cutting and making musical instruments (violins, button accordions double bass, viola, guitars,cello), and building a tourist fishing lodge. located on a working dairy farm this homestay has two bedrooms with ensuites- one bedroom has1 king size bed or two single beds(sleep2)( you can see fish swimming from your bed) Bedroom 2 has 1 double and 1 single bed atop plus one bunk bed (sleep4) also 1 sofa bed in the main family room. Fly fishing club outing sleep up to 8 , main family room has kitchenette with gas stove top-sink with -microwave-crockery for 8. A gas BBQ is outside on the landing over the water.Open fireplace for cosy fires in the winter allows you to cook marshmellows or boil a billy-just like everybody did in days gone by.Wood is accessable from a port next to the fire . TV, main room opens onto the landing over the water,where can sit and enjoy the scenery or you can have a go at tying your own flies.CAREFUL the water is cold and 10ft 3m at the landing and swimming is permitted. B uilding is built from Mt Gambier limestone and is double glazed- makes for a very quiet stay,Fly fishing,catch and release (flies only) another pond is planned in the near future for younger fish to eat. 3 lakes of about an acre each are for fly fishing and some of the water is used for irrigation.Lakes are dug into limestone and sealed to hold pristine quality water-banks are not slippery and a minimum of obsticles to tangle your fly.BYO fly gear and rods,you can have a go at tying your own A working dairy farm of 800 cows, tours can be arranged subject to time and what can be arranged Sorry no pets please. Finding our place can be a problem, until google maps can be CORRECTED,so turn of the Riddoch hwy@ post office rd,right into Ellis Rd,left into Telfords rd then in the gate and keep left for 600m or off the Nelson rd to Lasslett RD, left into Ellis rd and left again to Telfords rd Left @ 83 for 600m. There are lots to see within 20min of our place like, MtSchank volcano , popular with tourists, climb it in 20 min, youngest volcano in Australia. Nelson and Glenelg River Longest saltwater estury in Australia, navigable for 60kms (good fishing and boat trips) . Princess Margaret Cave and Tantanoola Cave. Township of Port macDonnell ( lobster capital of SA - buy a crayfish!) . Mt Gambier ,its lakes area and famous Blue Lake, Garden sinkholes. 5km south of us are great beaches, and surf and much more.
