Minutes from Buffalo Mountain Preserve, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and downtown Floyd there’s no shortage of attractions and activities close by. Buffalo Bliss is a spectacular hidden gem, well worth the drive into the country! Buffalo Bliss is part of the Utopian Village community of rentals, built by the creator of Utopian Homes. Secluded and private at the end of a well-maintained gravel road, Bliss is perfect for a couple’s getaway or a special retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Feel free to walk along the grassy trails surrounding two large ponds or take the paddle boat out for a leisurely cruise. Enjoy the peace and quiet of beautiful mountain views, either from inside the large open living space with floor to ceiling windows or from outside on the large, raised deck. Commune with nature listening to the frogs and crickets chirping, watch the varied and abundant wildlife from the deck, or find your Zen meditating or doing yoga overlooking the peak of Buffalo Mountain with an ever-changing sky overhead. With breathtaking sunsets, rainbows, star-filled night skies, and cloud shows galore there’s always something to see at Bliss. When you enter the side door into the entry hallway, you’ll immediately see the spacious kitchen with butcher block counters and natural light from the skylight. The great room off the kitchen is flanked in front by wall to wall, wall to ceiling windows overlooking the majestic fields and Buffalo Mountain peak so beloved by Floyd residents and visitors alike. When you turn the corner expect your breath to be taken away. Buffalo Bliss was previously the home of a professional baker, so the kitchen is fully set up with a chef-grade gas stove and oven, large double-door refrigerator, microwave, ample counter space, deep double farm sinks, and a kitchen island that seats 2 people. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking essentials, including tea pot, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder and French press. Complimentary coffee beans from Red Rooster coffee roaster in Floyd is always in stock. Bliss has an open floor plan with a shed style roof that rises to a 12-foot ceiling in the front. Skylights in every room and large windows all around let in tons of natural light, making the space feel bright and spacious on the cloudiest day. Complimentary yoga mats, yoga blocks, and a meditation cushion are available for use in the open space between the living room and the book nook. The living room has a queen-sized sleeper sofa and is stocked with family board games and binoculars. Both side tables provide USB ports and charging stations. A universal charging cord is available in case you forget to bring your own. There is no TV in Bliss. The mountains and sky and wildlife will be the most enthralling binge watching you do all year. Tucked away in the corner with access to the deck portico overlooking the ponds, you can’t go wrong sipping your morning coffee or catching an afternoon read (or snooze). Pick up the binoculars and you’ll see geese, turkeys, deer, birds, turtles, groundhogs, and even the occasional bear or skunk. Willis is a stargazer’s paradise, designated as one of the darkest, least light polluted places in the country. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed that includes all linens, a walk-in closet with baskets and hangers for storage, USB port and charging station built into the headboard, and 2 side tables. A skylight over the bed, two windows overlooking the pond, and a sliding glass door onto the deck provide abundant light, views, and access to the beauty all around. The large master bath provides a modern spa tub for soaking and relaxing, under a transom window for additional light. The walk-in shower is artistically hand laid with river stones collected by your co-host Chris during his 1-year RV trip across the country. The toilet includes a heated bidet seat for extra comfort. Bath bombs and all the bathroom essentials including body wash, shampoo, conditioner, towels, wash cloths, and lotion are available for use to guests. Bliss also provides an additional half bath as well as a mud room with washer and dryer, additional storage, complimentary pet bowls, dog crate, and dog bed. And not to worry if you need basic supplies such as groceries or beverages. Even though we’re a little off the beaten path, the Willis Village Mart is only 6 minutes away and sells never frozen local meats and fish, local farm fresh eggs, local produce, and a healthy selection of beer and wine.
