Welcome to our home on Melbourne’s iconic St Kilda Road, nestled between Albert Park Lake and Fawkner Park. It is the perfect base for exploring Melbourne, with a tram stop nearby providing easy access to the CBD, beaches or local markets. Inside, you will find all the comforts of home. Outside, the private courtyard provides a unique space to relax and enjoy the mural by renowned street artist Adnate. Leisurely midday checkout. Off-street, under-cover car parking with bike anchor included. The accommodation is a two bedroom modernised townhouse in a low-rise 1970s urban village complex. The ground floor consists of an open plan kitchen/dining/living and home office space, walk-in pantry, European laundry and exterior courtyard. Upstairs consists of two bedrooms, one with queen bed, the other with 2 single beds, a bathroom with basin and shower and separate toilet. Adjacent to the townhouse is an under-cover parking space with anchor to secure bikes.
When we arrived, the place was in a very clean state, and we quite liked the tasteful artworks and the layout of everything. The kitchen was easy to navigate, and everything in the place was very well organised. The location is very convenient, as there is public transport within a few 100 metres, and beautiful surrounding parks. There were some nice looking places to eat at that I'll have to explore at a later visit. The hosts were very accomodating and quick to respond to any questions that I had. Would thoroughly recommend!
St Kilda Road is a wide European style tree-lined boulevard and provides a sweeping, iconic entrance to Melbourne's centre.
Home to a mix of modern skyscrapers and historic architecture, it is one of Victoria’s busiest tram corridors, so you never have to wait long for a tram to the CBD. It is also one of Melbourne’s most active cycling routes.
Nearby are some of Melbourne’s best parks, including Fawkner Park with its Art Deco sporting pavilions, sports fields and tree-lined paths, the Royal Botanic Gardens with its diverse plant collection, famous Tan running track, punting on the lake and outdoor theatre productions, and Albert Park, home to the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix and Australia’s largest parkrun, but also a great place for golf, sailing, birdwatching or walking, running or cycling around the lake.
Local shopping for foodies includes the South Melbourne Market and Prahran Market, or for clothes shopping head to the Chapel Street shops.
Local places to visit include the Shrine of Remembrance, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Southbank and St Kilda Beach.
TRAMS
The local tram stop is #23 Arthur St/St Kilda Rd (80 metres from the townhouse). From stop #23 you can take any of the many tram routes heading north into Melbourne CBD or take the trams south to various locations including St Kilda Beach or the Prahran Market and Chapel Street shops. You will need a Myki card to travel on the tram which is available to purchase at many outlets around Melbourne, including the Fawkner Express Convenience Store across the road or Flinders Street Station.
WALK, CYCLE
Local cafes and parks, including Fawkner Park, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Albert Park are within easy walking distance. Bring your own bike or bike hire is available in the CBD if you wish to take advantage of the city’s network of bike paths. We recommend Blue Tongue Bikes who also organise guided tours and suggest routes for DIY bike tours around Melbourne.
TRAIN/BUS
Flinders Street Station is a 10-minute tram ride away. From here you will be able to connect up with a large number of train services. Alternatively, Southern Cross Station is a 20-minute tram ride away. Southern Cross is Victoria's primary metropolitan, regional and airport gateway, with a large number of train and bus services available including the SkyBus services to Melbourne Airport.
CAR
If you are not familiar with driving in Melbourne, please take care sharing the road with trams and bikes. In particular, watch out for Melbourne's infamous hook turns! Car rental or car share is available at various locations around Melbourne. There is a GoGet parking bay nearby on the corner of Leopold St and St Kilda Rd where you can pick up a share car. Please visit their website for further details. If you prefer a taxi, they can be hailed on the street or booked from companies including 13 CABS or Silver Top Taxis. Alternatively, Didi and Uber are the most commonly used rideshare apps in Melbourne.
