This stunning holiday cottage located centrally in the popular seaside town of Hornsea makes the perfect escape. This tastefully decorated holiday home is nestled away with it's own entrance, parking and outside courtyard while still within walking distance of shops, eateries and the beach. The entrance provides a useful storage space for coats and shoes. Enter into the spacious open plan lounge and kitchen dining area. Off this area is the master bedroom. There is a small corridor from the dining area leading to two single bedrooms and the modern fitted bathroom. This property is all on one floor with just a small step at the entrance. A perfect arrangement for families with the single bedrooms away from the lounge area where adults may stay up longer. Also ideal for small group stays with three guests each able to have their own bedroom all with plenty of space for suitcases and to relax in. The property sleeps 4 guests in the three bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the modern appliances needed to enjoy a self catering stay including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, and a dining area. There is also a washing machine and clothes airer. The property is located within the grounds of the owners home but you can be guaranteed a private stay with your own entrance (with electric gate) and fenced courtyard as well as dedicated parking space and lockbox self entry. The courtyard includes a choice of seating areas where guests can enjoy alfresco dining or a glass of wine! Located just off Hornsea Market Place it is a 2 minute walk from local bars and restaurants and the large Hall Garth Park. The park contains plentiful open space as well as picnic benches, an adult outdoor gym and children's playpark and skatepark. A 10 - 15 minute stroll will take you to the blue flag beach. There is a butchers just around the corner as well as a small Co-op store in the town centre and many independent food and gifts stores. Hornsea's large Tesco supermarket is a two minute drive away and Hornsea Freeport is about a five minute drive away. Hornsea Freeport is on the site of the Hornsea Pottery factory which prior to this was located in the buildings onsite at Potters Lodge (hence the name). At Hornsea Freeport you will find some shops (we recommend Hop Frog for those who like a craft beer / cider plus it has a good history of Hornsea Pottery and works with the license owner to create new gift items incorporating the original designs) as well as family activities such as The Potteries (pottery painting), Bugtopia and Beach Cove (indoor and outdoor play area). Hornsea Museum is located a 5 minute walk away from Potters Lodge. Six buildings with 19 display areas, Hornsea Museum is something for all the family. Located in a former 18th century farmhouse and outbuildings with Victorian rooms, exhibition areas, over 2000 pieces of Hornsea Pottery, a model railway and model fishing boats. Children's craft days also run (usually on Wednesdays) during the school holidays and other events take place here throughout the year. If you fancy leaving the car behind Potters Lodge is a 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop where the town service bus stops (this runs from the seafront to the Hornsea Freeport as well as calling around the town and at the Tesco superstore) as well as buses to Beverley and Hull. A perfect property to enjoy a trip to Hornsea which was named in 2022 as the top-trending seaside resort for Airbnb rentals.
Hornsea was announced as the top trending seaside destination for Brits by Airbnb in 2022 and it's not difficult to see why.
The birth place of the famous Hornsea Pottery combines seaside charm with artistic elegance. The well designed Hornsea Pottery trail sees elements of the influential pattern design adorn the roundabouts and pavements.
Hornsea has a stunning bone structure of the Hornsea Mere, a town centre thriving with independent shops, galleries, bars and cafes and a blue flag beach as well as the large Hall Garth Park running behind the main shopping street perfectly located for enjoying a few tranquil moments.
Hornsea Mere is the largest freshwater lake in East Yorkshire at over 2 miles long. In the spring and summer season visitors to the Mere can have a go rowing or take a boat trip as well as fishing. It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds. Those who enjoy walking can also walk around the Mere which incorporates Wassand Hall.
The town centre has bucked the decline trend with waiting lists for retail premises and the bustling high street has seen extensive investment from small businesses with a wide range of modern cafes, bars and shops. Hornsea Museum is nestled in the centre of the town located in an 18th century farmhouse and outbuildings. It includes Victorian rooms, exhibition areas, over 2000 pieces of Hornsea Pottery, a model railway and model fishing boats.
Hornsea Freeport is located to the south of the town and was the main factory site for Hornsea Pottery. There are nods to the pottery still there with the popular Hop Frog who are the UK Licensing partner of Hornsea Potteries designs. Within their store you will find new gift products featuring the iconic designs as well as history about the pottery. They also sell general gifts as well as serving craft beers to drink in or take away as well as coffees. The Potteries at Hornsea Freeport is a pottery painting cafe suitable for both adults and children. There are also the family friendly Bugtopia and The Beach Cove indoor and outdoor play park located at the Freeport alongside a selection of shops.
Hornsea hosts many events throughout the year particularly the summer. The two largest events being Hornsea Carnival (19th - 21st July 2024) and Hornsea Biker Event in August.
The cottage is centrally located within walking distance of shops, eateries and the beach.
Those staying for longer and wanting to explore further afield are only a 25 minute car journey from the market town of Beverley, the larger seaside town of Bridlington, the wolds town of Driffield or a half hour journey away from Kingston Upon Hull. You can also reach York and Scarborough within an hour.
