The Biorka Guest House is charming, affordable, and private. It is a short walk to nearby downtown shopping, Sitka National Park, Tlingit totem poles, and salmon-rich Indian River, as well as to the Fine Arts Camp, harbors, and very beautiful hiking trails. The room is excellent for couples & solo adventurers. It has a separate entrance, mountain views, private full bath, TV/DVD player plus videos, and a queen bed. There is a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave & coffee machine. The guest room is on the left side of our home, down the path, into the porch, and up a flight of stairs to the second floor. The room over looks our yard and has views to the mountains. It is a clean, generous sized room, with TV/ DVD player, a free basket of DVD's, a radio, microwave, coffee maker, and a small refrigerator. It is very clean and quiet. This sweet little suite was just right for my stay in Sitka. I was here for a meeting and it was wonderfully convenient to be close to everything and also be able to have a quiet and cozy place. I loved admiring the beautiful and functional ceramics handmade by Auriella, and the elegant fish wall prints, and magnificent view of the mountain. This is a wonderful place and I look forward to another opportunity to stay here again! Thank you Auriella for being such a kind and responsive hostess!

Auriella came to my rescue and picked me up at the airport delivering me to her place with some suggestions on good places to eat and the location of the business I was there to visit. She is a very wonderful, open, and helpful person. There is a market half a block away where you can get a variety of groceries to heat in the microwave. I was only there for the night but found her place private, and on the second floor with an open view. Would love to stay there again.
Nice and cozy spot. I slept great in the bed, had very nice little amenities in case I had forgotten anything. The coffee, tea, hot chocolate and oatmeal were a nice treat!
Auriella’s place was wonderful. Those extra killer touches that make you feeler righty at home and she was super friendly and accommodating. I’d give it 5 stars and a 10+ rating!

Ours is a lovely neighborhood near downtown Sitka. it is in close walking distance to local trails, shopping, harbors, churches, the Sitka Library, The Sitka Fine Arts Campus, the Sheldon Jackson Museum, the State Trooper Academy, the National Park, the Raptor Center, the Sitka Sound Science Center, The Island Institute, Yoga Union, the Hames PE Center, the Russian Orthodox Church, the harbor sea walk, the Cross Trail, and Market Center food market.
The local "Sitka Ride" has a bus stop only one block away. Your guest room is in walking distance to all of downtown, and many activities. Plus, Sitka is a bicycle friendly community, so if you want to get around on two wheels instead, you can. We also have two bikes available for rent at a very affordable price.

My husband, son and I moved together to Alaska in 1998 from Hawaii, for what was intended to be a 3-year work commitment. But we fell in love with the wonderful community of Sitka and with the beautiful environment of Southeast Alaska, and stayed. This place is really like no other community I have ever lived in - people really do care about having a high quality of life here, and enjoy creating it. In addition to running the Biorka Guest House, I enjoy making pottery, and have items for sale in the Island Artist Gallery downtown. I have worked as a nurse for 40 years, and co-founded a local Sitka nonprofit organization called Brave Heart Volunteers. One of my favorite quotes is, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace. " attributed to Jimi. I am inspired by love, harmony and beauty.
