The Manor dates back to 1637 and is a stunning Grade II listed property, of which this is part of the former coach house. Stylishly converted with a mezzanine floor and attention to detail, you will certainly be comfortable staying here. On the ground floor the bright sitting room with floor-to-ceiling glazing has comfortable contemporary seating, a cosy wood burning stove and a TV/DVD player, as well as a dining table with seating for four. The integrated kitchen has everything you could need when you return from the farm shop with your local goodies, and there's a utility room and ground floor shower room for convenience. Upstairs you'll find a super-king size bed, which can be made into twin beds on request, on the mezzanine floor overlooking the sitting room. There's a further super-king size room which can also be a twin and a second shower room. The calming paved courtyard outside has table and chairs to enjoy a quiet coffee. It is enclosed and shared with one adjoining property, from which a gate and pathway leads to the village. There is also a communal lawned area overlooking meadows, which you are welcome to make use of. All in all a splendid little hideaway with quality and comfort in mind. An attractive limestone village at the foot of The Mendip Hills AONB, Farrington Gurney is conveniently situated between Bath, Bristol and Wells. In the village you'll find the very popular Farringtons Farm with a farm shop, café, soft play barn and seasonal events, so is a great place to visit whatever the weather and time of year.
Whilst staying in the area you must visit the former coal mining town of Midsomer Norton. Famous for its nursery rhymes and a certain television series, the historic town if bustling with cafes and restaurants.
Walkers will certainly enjoy the lanes edged with ancient stone walls and footpaths crossing scenic countryside. For urban interest the elegant city of Bath is just eleven miles away and lively Bristol twelve. Wells, reputed to be the smallest city in England, can be reached in less than twenty minutes. It remains remarkably unspoilt and boasts many historic buildings including the magnificent 13th century cathedral, which hosts an excellent music programme throughout the year.
There are several National Trust properties to visit nearby such as Stourhead House & Gardens, Dyrham Park and Laycock Abbey to name but a few. Wookey Hole and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, offering caves, witches and cheese, are only a 30 minute drive away.
