Not included the adjoining house, where arch and poet Ignacio Balcells (1945-2005) wrote his books. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Simple house built by our father in the 90s and remodeled by us in 2012. It is simple. Its architecture is modern, bright and spacious. Its most spectacular attribute is its location. The land is very privileged and large, more than 3000 m2, and is on a rock on a cliff on the first line of the Quintay Town Sector, with 180º clear and unique views from various points of the house and land: to the sea, the Whale and the Curauma hill. There is no other view like it in Quintay. FRONT LINE LOCATION Its spectacular attribute is its location. The land is very privileged and large, more than 3000 m2, and is on a hilly end on a cliff on the first line of the Quintay Town Sector, with 180º clear and unique views from various points of the house and land: to the sea, the Whale Factory ruins and the Curauma hill. There is no other view like it in Quintay. Its magnificent location also presents a certain risk due to the cliffs that surround it. They are quite far from the house, about 200 meters. Nothing has ever happened, but we have four children and we always had them in sight as a precaution. It is located in the town itself, which allows access to all the commerce and services of Quintay very close, within walking distance, and allows you to walk to its main attractions: the cove, with its delicious restaurants, diving schools, and sometimes stalls. crafts and fish sales, in addition to the historic ruins of the old Quintay Whaling House, where there is a very illustrative museum about the site that can be visited by paying a modest entrance fee. From our house you can walk to all those places without having to look for or pay for parking. CAREGIVER AND KEYS When confirming your reservation we will give you the contact of our housekeeper, who will give you the keys and to whom you must return them when you leave. We also need her willingness to allow her to carry out her daily watering tasks, usually at the end of the day, letting her enter the garden areas. HOUSEHOLD LINEN AND BATHROOM AND TOILETRY ARTICLES As it is our family home, we ask you to please bring your own sheets, towels and bathroom items. There are pillows, cushions, down comforters (and/or fleece blankets, depending on the bed). There are also cleaning products for the home, bathrooms and kitchen. WATER In Quintay there is a shortage of water in these times of drought. The town makes a great effort to take care of it. We invite you to use water in the most rational and rationed way possible. The water is drinkable, but it is not recommended to drink it without boiling it. Yes, it can be used for everything else, such as showering and washing. You may have some normal turbidity in town. In several Quintay stores they sell 5-6 liter drums of water for consumption. It's what we use. BATHROOMS The house has its own sewage disposal system with a pit, so it is requested not to throw paper into the cups. It is a little uncomfortable, but manageable, and even more uncomfortable can be an unwanted health collapse. STEPS The land has a certain slope that can be seen in the photos. And inside the house there are some steps. Two or three to go to the dining room/kitchen. To enter the main bedroom there are about 6 spread over two landings. To go to the area with the other bedrooms there are also a few steps. If you cannot go up or down steps, we do not recommend you renting this house. HEATING There is no central heating or anything like that. In the living room we have a small Toyotomi paraffin heater (not too bad odorwise) and in the four bedrooms we have electric heaters. The house is a little cold from May to September, but with the heaters it is very tolerable. However, if you are afraid of the cold and have heaters, you can bring an extra one if you wish. TELEVISION We prefer the view, but if you don't want to miss that movie, series, news or match, in the master bedroom there is a 43'' Smart TV with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and connected to DirecTV Prepaid, which can be activated very easily online by purchasing packages for the number of days of their stay (at the expense of the tenant). You will find instructions on the Directv Chile Pagos website. They must enter the RUT of the host as a user of the service. It will be visible glued to the television. INTERNET We do not have WIFI. We use the signal from our mobile phones to connect computers or the Smart TV with Wifi to access, for example, your Netflix or similar accounts. In Quintay there is cell phone signal from all companies. SWIMING POOL The pool is ONLY ENABLED from DECEMBER to EASTER WEEK (both inclusive). And it works with sea water. It is a very special experience and they say it is healing. They call it "thalassotherapy." Here the reason is the proximity of the sea and that makes it environmentally safe for the availability of fresh water. We ask you please not to play loud music because it disturbs the neighbors; and leave the umbrellas closed when you are not in the pool (including at night), they fly away and break.
