Columbia Shores is a peaceful neighborhood just about a mile east of the new Vancouver Waterfront and located right on the Columbia River. Notable restaurants in the area are McMenemins on the Columbia and Beaches both offering excellent riverfront views. The neighborhood has excellent freeway access. The south side of the neighborhood features the 5 mile Renaissance Trail that connects all the way to downtown Vancouver and Winter Park in the opposite direction. The trail can be accessed just across the street, and it’s only a couple minutes walk to a sandy beach area which is perfect for watching the sunset or a plunge on a hot summer day. Be aware that the river has a strong current if you get in too deep.

If you are traveling from the Portland airport, it’s easiest to have your own car. However, Uber and Lyft rides are plentiful. The airport is only 10 minutes by car, not factoring in traffic. Once you’re in the neighborhood it is very pedestrian friendly and walkable. Just across the street from the townhouse is a pedestrian trail that will take you along a scenic waterfront path and into downtown Vancouver where you can find just about anything you need - plenty of great coffee shops, restaurants, breweries, bars and shopping! It’s a 20-30 minute walk to the center of it all or be there in 5-7 minutes by car. The largest grocery store is Fred Meyer - just a few minutes by car, and very walkable in terms of distance, but not the most pedestrian friendly as you have to cross a major intersection and on/off ramp from the freeway. There are usually a number of open parking spots around the condo, and it’s never an issue to find parking. Parking is free for visitors, just make sure you aren’t leaving your car sitting on on spot for days at a time, and you won’t have any trouble!
